DVH Friday PC from DD
DVH:
• Still questions to be answered both offensively and defensively. But pitching should be really good
• The SEC is going to be great this season
• Got some older players that transferred in like Tavian Josenberger and Jared Wegner
• Brady Slavens is healthy, took some live batting practice and looked good, including going 400 feet to the opposite field. Slavens was mistakenly listed as an OF on the roster. DVH made it clear that he is no OF, but a 1B and DH.
• Hagen Smith will be a starter whlle Brady Tygart could start or relieve. DVH says he has 4 or so others that could start.
• Would love to have Will McEntire as a starter. Love the way he throws strikes. Doesn't say much, but can be mean on the mound.
• DVH wouldn't be surprised if Smith, McEntire and Jackson Wiggins started on the mound the opening weekend.
• Thinks pitcher Cody Adcock is the best that he has ever been. Hunter Hollan is another starting pitcher option. Koty Frank likely to be a bullpen guy.
• Excited about P Zach Morris coming back.
• The two catchers expected to log innings are Hudson Polk and Parker Rowland. Polk has th4e edge because of fall, but the fact that Rowland is a switch hitter and can give them left handed at bats is a plus.
• The 3B job will be won over the next four weeks - Kendall Diggs, Jayson Jones, Cobi Cali vying for it.
• The starting OF right now would be Jace Bohrofen, Josenberger and Jared Wegner with freshman Mason Neville pushing to play as well
• Tried to schedule RPI better this season, but playing the best in the SEC games is the big thing.
• Thrilled to be playing the opening weekend at the Texas Rangers Globe Life Stadium - great setting, definitely gong to play in 72 degree weather against great teams.
• The captains this season - as voted on by their teammates - are Peyton Stovall, Jace Bohrofen and Zach Morris

• Jace Bohrofen and Peyton Stovall now at podium - both played in the Cape Code summer league and lived with the same host family
• Both honored to be name captains as a junior and sophomore, respectively
• Stovall talked about how he pressed as a celebrated freshman last season, got away from having fun, but a talk with DVH late in the season helped get him back to having fun and playing well.
He notes that baseball is suppose to be fun and it is important to make sure you keep that in the forefront of your mind.
• Both raved about the deep pitching staff
• Bohrofen admitted that last year was frustrating with injuries and being in and out of the line up, but looks forward to putting it all together this season.
• Stovall says the SEC is going to be great season and the SEC West is going to again be the best division in college baseball.
• Bohrofen expect the team to not rely on the long ball so much this season - believes their will be more bunting and stealing bases.
