Morris and Ledbetter got shelled, and combined to give up 7 runs in just 1.1 innings pitched.
Morris only managed 2 outs in 7 batters faced. He gave up 4 hits and 1 walk to plate 4 runs. Ledbetter came in and gave up a 2 run homer on his first pitch (he inherited 1 runner from Morris), and then proceeded to give up another run in the 4th before getting pulled.
Our bats went quiet again. We only finished with 5 total hits, and the bottom of the order finished 0-8 with 3 strikeouts.
Also, this is another case of the “one bad inning” that I’ve been harping on that seems to have been our Achilles heel the last week or so. I posted this Sunday:
Add 6 in the 3rd from last night’s game to that tally of losses with one really bad inning that was the deciding factor.

The story of this weekend was the one bad inning, which occurred in all three games.
Game 1 — gave up 5 runs in the 3rd.
Game 2 — gave up 4 runs in the 2nd.
Game 3 — gave up 5 runs in the 9th.
Oddly enough, games 1 and 2 were on the starters, whereas game 3 was a bullpen collapse.

All that said, look around the league and you’ll see that nearly everyone struggled or outright lost.
LSU, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Georgia, and Auburn all lost last night. The only one who played even remotely similar competition was Kentucky, who played Louisville and got shut out.
The only things I’m taking away from this game are:
- McLaughlin can hit and needs to stay in the lineup when both Josenberger and Wegner are back
- Holt can hit and has some wheels. He legged out an RBI triple last night that would’ve been a standup double for anyone else. I’m still going to bang the drum of moving Stovall to short and platooning Holt and Coll at 2nd, though I doubt at this point in the season DVH would be willing to shake things up to that degree (I wouldn’t blame him).
- Zack Morris has played his last meaningful baseball at UA. The coaches don’t trust him in any weekend situation outside of a blowout, and we only have 1 midweek game left, in which I assume DVH will want to give the youngsters some game experience to aid development.

TY, I knew you could give a better synopsis than the stats I looked up.
Hopefully we do what DVH does and turn the corner soon with injuries being better, etc.

Josenberger ruled out indefinitely.
God hates Arkansas athletics
or we are getting our % of bad injuries out this year and will get a few years of peace and quiet.

Terrible news. I’ve said a couple of times that he’s our best all-around player. This one hurts (no pun intended).
Oddly enough, DVH was asked last night in his postgame presser about Josenberger and he said it was a “grade 1 strain” and said it “was the best news they could have hoped for,” so it sounds like an MRI or second opinion gave them some bad news.

At one point early in the game I counted 8 pitches in a row where he threw up in the zone.
What a bust

It’s a pretty bad hamstring injury. He tried to avoid a tag going to first base against Georgia and kinda awkwardly landed while trying to touch the base, almost looked like a hyperextension

Tonight’s lineup. Biggest updates are Rowland is back, and Grimes cracks the lineup while Josenberger is out.
