“There’s been no update.” — Eric Musselman, when asked about the status of Nick Smith Jr.

Muss had previously said Smith would be out through at least January and then they’d reassess.

And yet the less than stellar Arkansas media can't find anything more important to discuss

I'm just curious what Dykes heard to say that the other night and then Muss reiterates today no update.

If I was to guess, Dykes was alluding to him being cleared for practice in ~2 weeks. Then Nick will need several practices before playing.

Mid Feb at best.

I guess there's not much benefit to announcing when he'll be back, if they do know.

Trying to remember how much notice we had when he came back the first time.

Hogs have slipped to “last 4 BYEs” in Lunardi’s latest projection. Officially “on the bubble.”

None IIRC. I was eating pizza with some friends at Tim’s that night and we were saying maybe he’ll come back mid-January. Then we looked up and he was playing.

Oregon is 13-11, Kelel Ware has went from preseason top 10 pick to late first round.

He plays 13 minutes a game off the bench on a really bad team. 8th in minutes of their 10 players that play.

Still pisses me off.

Muss and Ware have a opposing views when it comes to effort given in order to get PT.

Ware is nothing more than potential with a lot of raw tools but doesn't really care about basketball.

quote:

Dana Altman has been candid this season when discussing the struggles of Oregon’s 5-star freshman, Kel’el Ware.

This week, Ducks’ head coach delivered the clearest indicator yet that things aren’t exactly clicking for his blue-chip center during his first season with the program.

While meeting with reporters on Tuesday, Altman was asked about Ware’s effort and lack of consistent production through the first 20 games of the season. During Oregon’s loss at Stanford last Saturday, Ware played a season-low six minutes and did not take a shot.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations,” Altman said. “They haven’t gone as well and haven’t been as constructive as we want them to be. I was disappointed in his effort. I let him know that. He’s gonna have to make some adjustments or I’ve got to make some decisions. His time has been reduced. That doesn’t help us, because he is talented.”

This isn’t the first time this season that Altman has publicly criticized Ware’s effort.

Following Oregon’s home win over Oregon State on Dec. 31, Altman paid a backhanded compliment to the freshman, noting that Ware had played with energy in that game and “at least acted like he wanted to be here tonight.”

Since that moment, though, Ware has not played more than 15 minutes in a single game.

“He hasn’t blocked any shots lately. He hasn’t gotten any hands on balls,” Altman said. “He’s not using that length. We’ve still got to try to put the best team out there that gives us the best chance.

“If he’s playing hard, that helps us. But if he’s not, that hurts us.”

Yeah I do remember those type of comments in HS.

Altman is probably getting canned too. Be close if he gets one more year.

Doesn’t sound like we missed much so I’m not as pissed as I would be if he turned into a top 5 pick

We are favored by 11.5, I know they're bad but that's a lot of points on the road.

Injured players never travel.

We'll know when he returns to practice.

I watched Gafford in high school some and he was lazy too sometimes. I know Mike got him to play hard too. Ware has an NBA body but not the mindset yet. It may click soon for him
