I like what I've seen out of Pinion as a developmental guy. Can really shoot it but also quite athletic and you forget he's 6'5" and was a top 100 recruit.
Hilarious those are our developmental year 2+ guys now.

So is he done or not?

I thought it was interesting how open Muss was with the lineup like he was holding try outs for playing time. He never does that. This isn’t temporary. He’s looking for the person who’s going to replace NSJ’s minutes.
It is what it is. Duke and Kentucky have been putting 5 freshman MCD AA’s on the floor and getting nothing out of it more often than not. Great teams are almost always more organic than that. We’ll get many more All Americans and we need to stop thinking any one player is our savior. That’s a Mike Anderson mindset.

The really successful programs (Nova, Kansas, North Carolina, Gonzaga) have used those guys as the foundation of their programs and seasoned in the one and done players. That feels like the right recipe.

Maybe Devo will take the next step if he’s not paranoid about losing his job. I still believe in him. Just think he’s spent the last year in his head more often than not.

Speaking of Duke, I saw they lost at Wake by 11. Checked the box and again no Whitehead or Lively.
It's pretty crazy that the #1, #2 and #3 players for the class of 2022 have all been battered with injuries and played in exactly 5 games each.
Also still pissed at Kel'el Ware for going to Oregon as they lose to Utah Valley at home and fall to 7-6. They're terrible and Altman is likely out if it goes as bad as it looks. I guess Ware is also just a bit overrated, he can't even do much against low quality teams and was a projected top 10 pick so who knows how much he'd even be playing for us.

I am kind of surprised that we can’t reach an agreement with the people in Nick’s ear that would make them more comfortable seeing him play out the season.
If NSJ has a major knee problem then they need to just say it. They’re not going to fool the NBA medical teams. Kind of makes you think it’s a business decision and if that’s the case then I go back to making it worth his while.
Anthony Black rolled the hell out of his ankle a few games back and was back in the game 5 minutes later. Walsh had that nasty fall too. It’s disappointing that the guy from Little Rock can’t play through the bumps and bruises while two kids from out of state are diving for loose balls with their own ailments.

I’m not going to say that’s not part of it, but it’s not that simple. If it was his handler’s call, he would’ve not played the few games he did. He actually may have came back too soon. From everything we’re getting from NSJ (tweets, body language on the bench, how amped he was in his first game back), everything suggests to me that he wants to play.
Until proven otherwise fans need to leave open the possibility that he simply had an injury, came back from it at not 100%, tweaked it, and now needs time to let it heal up. From all accounts he was in a lot of pain when he went down vs Bradley.
Now his NBA prospects I’m sure are part of it too. And it’s possible that if he’s being told he needs to sit 6+ weeks for it to fully heal, that it starts to make less sense for him to try to play at all.
I’m hoping that’s not the case but I could see it. Either way I’m not going to leap to the conclusion that NSJ “has no dog in him” as everyone likes to say. Keep in mind the kid could’ve gone anywhere in the country and chose to be a hog. If he wanted to sit out for a season he could’ve gone to Hawaii and had a year long vacation while waiting to get drafted

You’re right about NSJ. He’s clearly a fierce competitor. I don’t doubt he wants to play at all.
Hoping it’s a situation like with Zion Williamson where he’ll play when the games matter and he’s healthy. But I’m not sure he’s the freak Zion is where you can just jump into the lineup and have that go smoothly.

If it works out like that it will help that he was able to play several OOC games with the team + Europe. So it wouldn’t be something completely new to get him back in the lineup.
We’ll see. If it was a done deal that he’s finished for the year, I’ve gotta think Muss would just come out and say it so the focus would be back on the team. My guess is they at least are hopeful he’ll be back

Bama turns the ball over a ton for a team of their caliber. Granted they've played a tough schedule but they've turned the ball over vs weaker teams too.
We are top 10 in forcing turnovers.
That's a nice looking matchup for us in BWA in a couple of weeks.

Shoutout to the bench players last night.
Joseph Pinion had two 3s, two dunks
Also Makhel Mitchell had 3 blocks in 8 minutes.
Graham had 16 points on 8-10 shooting in 19 minutes.

When Michael Washington was here in his last year people were dogging him for being lazy and such. Come to find out he was playing through back pain which, when he tried to turn pro, was not correctable and ended his career.
I’m not going to jump to conclusions off of emotions especially when, by Nick’s attitude, it appears he wants to play.
The negativity towards him is unwarranted IMO.

Yeah. I was there last night and, just as the case was earlier in the season, he was way too engaged for someone who is supposedly shutting it down. He’s still the first one off the bench to greet the team during timeouts.

Isn't Makhel supposed to be better defensively and Makhi offensively? Makhel was very good defensively last night, while I've noticed Makhi not even challenging shots several times.

In my mind, there is zero chance Nick does the weekly talk show if he was inclined to shut it down.
Feels like alot of the more reasonable speculation is being driven by some attempt to get ahead of the emotional hit of receiving bad news.
Muss has proven he can recruit with the best. I trust him to handle the situation skillfully.

Yeah he averaged 2.39 blocks per game last year at RI while Makhi averaged 1.39.
I wish we could get them both involved more or at least see which one is playing better any particular night.
