Have to assume the local talent in that region that has issues qualifying at bigger schools is significant and plays to their advantage.

I wonder if LSU will ever hire a competent (able to recruit, manage the personalities, and scheme well) basketball coach? They'd be dangerous if they could ever get a coach worth a shite to coach the talent they get.

No. They don't have the culture that would make them a winner. They are a football school first, baseball second and basketball third.

Before Muss was hired, Arkansas had roughly a 20 year period of just bad basketball from Heath, Pel and Anderson. LSU had more talented players of that time span but only one final four to show for it and struggled against some poorly coached Arkansas teams. They had plenty of time to elevate the basketball program in Baton Rouge but they simply don't have the passion for it.

The reason they are still melting on the rant and making excuse after excuse is they hate losing to a state like Arkansas who they believe is inferior to only mask the insecurities they have for the state of Louisiana. They do the same thing with Bama in football. Win and it was expected, lose and they say we don't care enough. They envy the Aggies because of the state of Texas and they know they feel insecure compared to them and so they make fun of the Aggies as much as they can.

After listening to Muss Thursday not even he sounded real optimistic.

Mainly said with the way rest time and travel time, and game time lay out you don’t have a ton of time for prep work outside of watching tape. They won’t even get a shoot around at TBA Saturday morning since the game is so early.

How many hours before a game does the shoot around normally start? I guess I don't understand why the time start matters. Boys just need to roll outta bed a little earlier to get it done.

Is this something Muss is doing? Is this an SEC rule?

He’s definitely sand-bagged this one in his approach. Feels like a bit of gamesmanship.

Not real sure. I think a big part of it is saving legs.

Things I took away

1. We’ve played a rough 8 game stretch and guys have been playing big minutes.

2. UT played the early game Tuesday and we played the late game Wednesday.

3. Thursday is a rest day.

4. Friday a short practice then fly to Knoxville. Lose an hour on the trip, no time to shoot around once you get there.

5. Saturday, more rest and have to be at the gym early so don’t push it.

As said above, it may be some gamesmanship on Muss part, he didn’t seem his normal self in the presser.

Toney will play limited minutes or be out today from the sounds of Muss in the pregame show

I heard correctly

quote:

Head Hog Eric Musselman clarified during his pre-game radio interview that due to injury, 3/4-combo forward Au’Diese Toney will play limited minutes against Tennessee today ..

I think it’s pretty obvious from rotations Muss isn’t going to let anybody but Notae and Umude play extended minutes.

He know a loss here doesn’t matter.

The drive, jump in the air with nowhere to go and “kick out” that has landed in the Vols hands 3x today has been extra special for him.

He should never play over KK. KK has work to do but he never plays so hard to hate on his TOs.

tenner fans gonna melt either way. all that previous work put in on them last game should provide some classic tennessee stupid. See the quote in my signature as a reminder about how intellegent vol fans are.....
