Yeah not really sure how every other P5 team can get decent teams last minute and then we get stuck with Southern lol
It is really strange, they must have not been willing to be flexible. It seems like they wanted a home game and that may have been the issue in trying to find an opponent. No way there was not a better option on the table if they would travel.
Playing a SWAC team is about has bad as it can get in terms of helping your resume. The only saving grace is they will have a decent shot at winning their league which helps a little if they are locked into the tournament come selection Sunday.

On the bright side, they were picked 7 spots higher than mvsu.
So we might win by 40.

Sure a juicy steak would be better but I’ll take the hamburger over nothing.

Arkansas men’s basketball will host the Southern University Jaguars on Wednesday (Dec. 9). Tipoff is set for 7:00 pm at Bud Walton Arena. It was also announced that the Razorbacks’ home men’s basketball game on Saturday (Dec. 12) with Central Arkansas will now start at 7:00 pm.

Sounds like they were just avoiding giving us a good game and taking the easy out for sure................

The comment about being able to bus in makes it sound like we’re paying for the cost of travel. That would severely limit any decent teams that we could have played.

My problem with that is I think we should have been open to travel. I get its not ideal but we might be at the mercy of having to win a high amount of SEC games if the league doesn't get some solid wins in OOC play.
Not playing a single projected top 100 kenpom team in OOC (outside of Ok St) is really rough, especially when they are all home games except for the game mentioned before.

“We did everything we could to play one of them,” Musselman said. “But none of them wanted to do it. We’ve reached out to Arkansas State and Pine Bluff on numerous occasions, not just this occasion.”
UAPB is playing at ASU on Wednesday night.
“That doesn’t preclude one of them from playing us on one of the other nights this week,” Musselman said.
Musselman said one team — he didn’t specify if it was ASU or UAPB — was told that Arkansas would play Friday night even though the Razorbacks are playing the University of Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. Saturday in Walton Arena.
“We would have played on back-to-back nights,” Musselman said.
We even offered to play on Friday which would have meant we play back to back nights.
and little rock said they were too tired:
quote:
UALR Coach Darrell Walker and Musselman discussed a Wednesday night game. Walker said he appreciated Musselman’s offer, but that after considering it, he decided the timing wasn’t right for the Trojans to play the Razorbacks.
The Trojans are worn down physically, Walker said, after they opened the season with four games in Louisville, Ky., had an eight-hour bus ride to Little Rock on Friday, then beat UCA 86-83 on Sunday.
“I’m tired right now, and I’m not even playing,” Walker said. “I’ve been a player, so I know when my guys are tired. I looked at my team when we were playing Central Arkansas and we were very sluggish, lethargic.

I'm actually more concerned we went that far trying to schedule it

I saw somebody post on the MSB that it was the first loss by a P5 team on the road to a D2 team since 2000. AND Ft. Hays was missing their head coach and associate head coach for the game.
Rough.
