Sources dried up the day ESPN took over the SEC. They have the rights to break big news.

I'm not gonna say the sky is falling, but look, I know for a certain fact that behind the scenes not everyone was on board firing Mike.
I really do not like hearing the someone is gumming this thing up by saying we won't pay more than we pay for football. It doesn't surprise me. I wasn't the only one saying Mike should get one more year. (This is not about what I said, btw, just pointing out that people were bickering about this weeks back)
It sounds like we have a struggle behind the scenes and THAT can frick our coaching search up more than anything else. Goddamn idiots and trying to compare dicks.

Musselman seems like the most logical choice to me.
Also, if you read the boards and watch everyone bounce names you can guess who it's gonna be.

I don't know shite, but my gut feeling is we're gonna throw the bank at Beard and have Musselman signed quickly if he says no. Might just be gas, though.

Well, no telling if this latest one is correct or not, but it jives with what Grant Hall reported.
If someone is saying no to more than 3.5 up front it doesn't make sense to keep waiting for Beard. It's a non-starter.

Unless that 3.5 rule does not apply to Beard.
Since it's the BOT wanting him they may be willing to cough up whatever is needed for him only.
I don't know anything, but if we aren't going above that he never would have been in consideration.

Agreed
Even if the BOT are dumb, they are not this dumb. No one thinks that 3.5 would be enough for Beard. He would get that type of raise at Tech even without schools coming after him.

This 3.5 all comes from some moron stating that we don't want to offend Chad Morris. If anybody actually believes that, go hop in your car and run over yourself. They may only pay 3.5 million for someone like Musselman but it won't be because of the football coach.

Simple way to handle Morris, tell him when he gets to the final four we'll pay him more.

I don't know that I'd want Marshall. It almost seems like he is afraid of comp. He's refused the call to move on to bigger and better time after time. And didn't WSU move to a better conference ? And since then hasn't his program had a bit of a drop off ?
I can see the logic in offering him a contract heavy in incentives. The SEC is at the very least the third best conference in basketball. And with a few off season hires will be even better.
I'm not saying that IS without a doubt the case. Maybe he likes being in small rural community. Either way I would think that Musselman would have a higher ceiling. JMO.

I'm growing tired of this quickly..... VERY quickly.
If it turns out to be Beard then great... worth the wait.... but NOTHING in the past 20 years of Razorback Sports leads me to believe Beard is coming.... he plays us, gets a raise, we look stupid and end up with plan Z.

Yeah its getting old. Being a hog fan is tough. Especially the last two decades. With the exception of Bobbys fun run. And we had to find a way to shite on that. Beard would be something else. We can only hope. I don't think we will hear anything until Monday.
