Just heard from a rivals buddy there is a power struggle on the BOT right now.

Sounds like one of the obvious homers still thinks we can get Beard despite his people telling us he is no longer interested.

I admire the tenacity, if anything.

If Tommy Boyer screws this up he's dead to me.

I don't think the difference between the two is enough to warrant much of a difference in reaction one way or the other.

Unfortunately there are quite a few job openings and waiting around on Beard only to get turned down while UCLA, Bama and A&M get their guy is not the best play IMO.

I'd prefer decisiveness at this point. Mussellman feels like an Altman type here to me for some reason. Big upside if given the resources to recruit etc with an impeccable X&Os/player development track record.

Hell, he's got a hell of a resume from a diversification standpoint. Not complete success but most of the NBA and International teams were dumpster fires.

Marshall has always said he'll coach at a place who will always love him. Lots of risk coming to Arkansas. He loves it in Wichita so prying him away would be hard. It'd be like trying to pry Nolan away in 1995.

You need to chill out. You're living in 2014. He hasn't made it past the 2nd round in 4 seasons and didn't even make the dance this year now that they're in a decent conference.

Not sure if its the 3.5MM salary or what but his demand has def. cooled.

Mussellman would be a great hire on paper and we would get a lot of respect from the national media.

A ton of people had Nevada in the Sweet 16 and even Elite 8 this year. They were really good, just laid an egg, which happens.

Oh I agree, but I'll admit I'm glad there are people on the board that are willing to put up a fight to swing for the fences. We haven't had enough of that in past coaching searches, IMO.

You sure. I feel like we are always swinging for the fences with a massive strikeout rate.

At this point I hope its someone we have focused on and done due diligence and go with him.

Mussellman fits that bill. Could be a disaster but I think his philosophy is relatively unique and brings something innovative to the table.

I don't get that feeling with Marshall. The guy won a lot and has had some runs in the NCAA but so did Shaka and we've seen how the UT turnaround is going..

Ok so I went to tardville and yes... I sound too much like them.....

I don't like the Mussellman hire but will support if it's the case..... Just doesn't feel like we've had time to conduct an extensive search.

Kevin McPherson ? @ARHoopScoop Following Following @ARHoopScoop More Kevin McPherson Retweeted Kevin McPherson Per source, IF Eric Musselman is the hire, he'll likely bring his son (a GA at Nevada) and one asst coach w/2 more hires to make to complete his staff ... one coach he's talking to could possibly bring some high-level recruits ... lots of moving parts, stay tuned ...

Musselman left the NBA and went 110-34 .763 at Nevada making the tournament 3 consecutive years. He has done more than Mike has done here. Also, dont forget Mike was here in the SEC, when it was considered one of the weakest conferences. Only this year did the SEC really show for the first time in a long time.

Supposedly he is very excited to become the head hog and take this program back to where it should be.

Beard is not coming here
Sampson is not coming here, thankfully we didn't fall into that father/son trap.
Marshall hasn't done much lately since the step up in competition to the AAC. He's lost the ability to whip up on small time schools and it shows.
Jamie Dixon isn't leaving his home school.
Nate Oats went to Bama

Name me another established coach who you think we should look at other than Musslemen.
