I don't remember our recruits doing this before. Is this common with high ranked guys or is our coaching staff telling them to help recruit once they commit?

It sure looks like they got the green light to help out. They seem fairly vocal before committing, and even moreso afterwards.

Yes it is common.
Shorter is only a 4*, I'm not sure CBB can get the recruits to run his ground and pound system and compete with LSU and Bama, not sure he will be able to get recruits aTm wants either.
