Jalen Hurrs never lost Bama a game

Clemson national championship game, Auburn 2017 and would have lost to Georgia in the national championship game, if not for Tua.

Sadly I’d take Milroe over Barnett. Barnett never won anything but marrying a good looking surfer chick.

Now since the thread turned to Hurts vs Milroe, I’d take Hurts 100 times over Milroe even though he frustrated me a lot with his play too. But the guy was a stone cold football player. Never got too up never got too down. Throw a pick no emotion, throw a td, no emotion. About the most he’d do was the Superman gesture. It was always let’s get to the next play and win it.

My memory is that Jalen had a 30 yard touchdown run against Clemson in that Nc game that put Bama ahead 4 with 2 minutes to go. I do remember Watson throwing for 420 yards against our defense that year.

Ironically Tua saved the day in UGA National title game and the next year Jalen saved the day when Tua (who was struggling immensely with UGA defense) got hurt against Uga and Jalen played one of the best 4th quarters in Bama history.

Hurts was generally a gamer who didn't kill you with dumb sacks or bad turnovers. He had a knack for making plays when they had to be made even when struggling.

I think there is a huge distinction between a QB not playing well and a QB costing you a game. Hurts protected the football, which isn't surprising given he's the son of a coach. Yeah he'd play like shite and miss open guys and all that, but he wouldn't turn the ball over in the shadow of his own goalposts on back to back series multiple times in the same season. Punting because you missed the open guy on 3rd and 7 isn't nearly as devastating as throwing the ball directly to a DB on your own 20 in addition to missing the open guy on 3rd and 7.

Exactly. Hurts also improved dramatically in 2018. Coming off the bench cold after Tua had to leave the game against Georgia to lead the come back was legendary. Milroe has gotten worse since his first start two years ago. Two very different players.

Yep. We actually scored too fast. I knew what was going happen the way Watson was playing. Took a pick play for Clemson to win, though.

At least Hurts would throw it away instead of taking sacks…Milroe is a sack waiting to happen…I can’t count how many times this year I was screaming “throw it away!!” Yet, take the sack and killed the drive.
