OH and there is no 1st rounder on the Bama offense period nor the defense.

Are you seriously saying not a single starter on either side of the ball will ever be drafted in the 1st round?

Slade would not be catching a fraction of the shite he is right now if Metchie and Williams were doing a better job of getting open and Bryce was doing a better job of connecting on downfield passes. There's nothing wrong with having your slot receiver be a checkdown magnet as long as your outside receivers and QB are forcing the defense to back off of the underneath stuff. You can certainly lump him in with the rest of the receivers in terms of not helping much with YAC/chunk plays, but that's also not really his role.

Evan Neal and Will Anderson - not 1st rounders

Well, that's a take

Evan Neal isn't a 1st round pick?

Neal is clearly a 1st round pick. But honesty, who else goes in the 1st from THIS team, THIS year? When is the last time Bama only had one 1st rounder?

I don't think there are any other automatics, no. Jobe probably still has a chance. I think Chris Allen had a very good chance to get into that conversation before the injury. I never thought Metchie was a 1st round guy, but I do think he's a solid 2-3rd round guy.

Part of that is where we are in turnover of the roster, though. "First round positions" are really primarily QB, T, WR, S, OLB.

QB - not eligible
WR - just graduated a bunch, youth mostly
T - will have a 1st rounder
OLB - Chris Allen had a shot and got hurt, Anderson isn't eligible
S - as of now not good enough

Neal? Nah, he's 100% a 1st round pick. TBD is whether he's a Top 5 pick or a #10-15 pick. That guy isn't slipping past 15.

Neal is literally seen as the best tackle in the country on most everyone’s mock drafts.

The reason we don’t have a lot of first rounders this year is because Surtain and Waddle left as juniors.

Most of our really good talent is sophomore or freshman, and a lot of the juniors haven’t played enough to get noticed and some of them were busts. It happens

I mean he's pretty universally looked at as the best OT in the class of 2022

If Chris Owens wasn't a turnstile at RT we might get to see some guys get open. Bryce is having to check down so much due to pressure coming from the right side.

Oddly enough, people aren't starting multiple threads about Owens' bum arse.

Hanks is who he reminds me of. Gets you a first down here and there. Nothing magical. Hanks was incredibly reliable though. Always open for the 1st when you needed. 2011 natty comes to mind.

If Owens is the best we have so be it but, god I hope someone is starting to get it.

Right now it looks like we only have one WR, Jameson, who can get separation

I'm pretty sure at least one or two of these freshmen will have that ability. They're probably still not totally confident so that will effect their route running. It's early. I doubt the Fab 4 were totally confident till later in their first season.

It may limit our options some but it looks like we are going to need to keep a TE in or chip with a RB to help him out. I wished he could play guard bc Ekiyor has struggled as well

I don't understand why we don't give Tommy Brown or Amari Kight some reps at RT. If it is an issue of them learning protections then that just might be a bullet we have to bite. I'd rather them blow an occasional assignment than get beat on every fricking play.

I really think Saban is being too loyal to Owens. If he was a sophomore playing the same exact way, he'd be on the 2nd unit.
