Will we see some shakeups at the WR position?

Right now it looks like we only have one WR, Jameson, who can get separation. Will we make changes to improve this situation?

I dont think Metchie is going anywhere (although he doesnt seem 100%).

Agiye Hall is the guy I want to see.

Not sure how much flexibility we have with moving Metchie and Williams around.

Also, Jahleel Billingsley should be one of the top receiving options on this team. Dude needs to get more targets.

Is there anybody who is impressed with Bill Obrien? His play calling is less than impressive.

Agiye Hall is what we need. A guy with size who can get contested balls.

jojo and Agiye need to start getting some more snaps. Billingsley as well. Metchie looks a bit slow this year TBH. He’s never been a burner but dude is rarely open my more than a few inches. Doesn’t give Bryce much of a window. Not sure if it’s his routes or a true lack of speed but he isn’t an elite go-to so far. He’d be a solid #3 slot guy to be honest. Need someone to step up before Lane rolls in. Gonna need 50+ that day.

Bama fans right before the season: “Guys, we can’t expect the offense to be as good as it’s been, especially without all these top receivers.”

Bama fans now: “WHERE ARE OUR FIRST ROUND RECEIVERS?”

Billingsley and Latu only had two pass receptions on Saturday. Bryce did lateral the ball to Latu for a conversion but those two have to be more involved. Billingsley in particular is a play maker. Hopefully another freshman other than Jo Jo can step up soon.

as long as the defenses know that bryce and these wr's rarely connect on the deep ball, these defenses can squeeze down on the offense. making it more pedestrian. so given those circumstances alone, this offense has been pretty dang good. just need to hit a few more deep balls to open it up. at least thats my view of it.

Latu has got to clean up his blocking technique as well. It wasn’t called Saturday but he has his hands wrapped around defenders pretty often

Not until some of the young guys learn the playbook and start blocking. The last 3 years have been a break from this discussion so I understand people forgetting how things work, but Saban would sooner play a walk-on WR who knows the playbook and is a willing blocker than a 5* freshman who runs the wrong route 30% of the time and takes running plays off.

Careful or the Bama Sunshine Crew will bring the downvotes

OH and there is no 1st rounder on the Bama offense period nor the defense.

Sorry for interrupting.

Based on what metric? As George pointed out in another thread, we're still averaging over 40 points a game with a brand new QB and only 1 WR with game-on-the-line experience.

Looking at the UF game the second quarter was a stinker, but the halftime adjustments appeared to be good. We got 3 possessions - took one in for a TD, took the second to the UF 1 and could have easily been another TD if Bryce either runs it in or we don't false start, and the last ran out the clock.

They weren't explosive drives, but IMO that was PERFECT for the situation. We weren't stopping UF in the second half. The last thing in the world we needed to do is give them the ball back quickly.

So, thus far no complaints. We're moving the ball, scoring points, and protecting Bryce (both physically and from placing him in positions to make errors that hurt his confidence and the team).

Now this I agree with, and moving forward I bet it happens. He was in the doghouse for whatever reason but seems to have worked his way out of it.

Robert Foster played over Devonta Smith for most of 2017. Smitty bailed us out multiple times late. We were pounding teams that season though until the Mississippi State game.

College receiver isn’t an ultra complex position. Most of the time the better athlete wins. I’d like to see our great young athletes get more reps. I really don’t care if they don’t know how to block, our offensive line doesn’t either and that’s what they’re here for. If a guy can win a go route I want to see him getting reps.

Jamo and Metchie are good receivers. Are they Devonta and Jeudy? No, but they’re more than good enough to get the job done this year. They will both be NFL receivers.

We need an increase in explosive and athleticism with the third receiver spot. I’d like to see one of two things. Either put Hall out wide and let Metchie operate from the slot more. Or have Jojo man the slot.

#18 scares me, couple of fumbles last year and this year vs. Mercer he almost loses the ball launching himself into the end zone, and then dropping a TD vs. UF.

I’m not a Slade basher but he is what he is. Darius Hanks, Sam Collins, Nikita Stover. Serviceable but never going to wow anyone with talent. He’s not going to pick up chunk plays and doesn’t threaten the defense. Honestly most of his receptions that I can recall seem like checkdowns or plays he’s kind of scripted wide open.

Saban has harped on this same sentiment a lot in the past but Nick Sirriani said it in his post game presser after their loss Sunday. Players, players, players..not plays. Kind of hard for me to believe we struck out at WR in this last class and that none of the 4 are ready for substantially more snaps. Slade is getting by right now on his knowledge of the playbook and all the checks, but I think we’re a more dangerous offense even with Billingsley at WR and Latu at TE. It’s just pretty puzzling to me that in this stage of the dynasty we have an every down skill player that isn’t going to sniff the NFL. That Baker, Holden, Jones-Bell class is looking rough
