just so he can go to Tulane?

I haven't followed him very much; I get that he basically only saw action on special teams.

But Tulane? The #77 passing offense last year?
Especially with Bond leaving...he can't do better by staying?

I predicted a couple of days ago that the majority of these kids leaving will end up in worse situations, on worse teams, and with more losses.

Tulane also lost their head coach to Houston. Preston is a Louisiana native so let him move back home.

He's from the area and Tulane provides him the "security" of instant/substantial playing time. NIL era will make building depth and long term development hard.

He went to the portal before Saban retired. At that point, there is a chance DeBoer never contacted him.

Yeah, I find that hard to believe.

Alot of these players have been politely processed man. It happens every season, this is no different.

The guys in the portal prior to Saban's announcement are the sorta guys who would've been in it last year and the year before and the year before that.

It's the guys leaving post Saban that you don't want to lose and those guys are straight up leaving for the moolah. They're getting raises.

Take Bond for instance. It makes perfect sense for him to leave. He's very likely making more money at Texas and they've got a quarterback that can get the ball to him.

These are legit paid athletes now. I don't fault them for this.

Ok, got it. That makes sense. I didn't realize he was in the portal before Saban retired.

To get to the League, which is most of these kids aspirations , you have to have tape or film for scouts to evaluate … got to get on the field somewhere . Others going from Bama to Texas or Georgia … usually NIL now

I don't think it was money. I think he was given an exit interview for 2023 from Saban that made him want to shop. He found his value in the transfer market and it was Tulane.

Yup.

It's better to see the field at Tulane than not at Alabama.

I can understand a player trying to better his situation, whether NIL, playing time, or whatever. The ones I don't understand are those like Bond, who don't evaluate how an incoming coach(es) could benefit them. Why not take a couple of days to check over the possibilities? Irrational.

Maybe he knows he wasn’t going to play here. People on the team know who can play and who can’t. Maybe a step down is the right thing for him. Maybe it’s just about playing time and being closer to home. I get it. Prolly want getting paid much here. Maybe got more there.

He went to Tulane so he could actually play football in a real, live game.

Yes, even if it leads to a free agent contract or practice player
