I was on the top floor of the Midtown Village condos on 5th street down from McDonalds and Taco Casa. I was cooking and the power went out. One of my roommates was out walking his dog and he ran in telling me to "Come look at this!" not specifying what "this" was. We had open-air stairwells, so as soon as I was led to them, the tornado was literally across the courtyard and clubroom from our stairs. I don't remember much about the decision making that occurred after I snapped this photo, but my roommate lock himself and his dog in the storage closets down the hall and my other room mate was frozen in fear. I was able to guide him to our shower tub and get him covered by a towel. I don't remember a tornado sound, but I do remember the sound of debris falling on the roof. Very little damage occurred to the complex, but everything across and down the street was destroyed. There was a very small apartment complex right next to us and that is where gymnast Kayla Hoffman had to brace herself outside in a door frame, exposed to the passing tornado.

We walked out to 15th street soon after and my brain could not comprehend what it was seeing. 15th was unrecognizable and my brain kept questioning where I was.

You are correct. I was in Coleman that day, auditioning to be Big AL. We were slated to go to the Ferg and walk around in the suit as part of tryouts. They ended up locking us down in Coleman and canceled that portion of the tryouts. It was a small tornado, and I remember thinking that day how I would like to someday see a tornado. Dumbest thought ever and never could have predicted I'd stare one in the face a few days later.

I was at work on campus and prior to the storms hitting my department chair sent us home. The next day a 40 minute trip to campus took 4-hours.

Outside of Tuscaloosa. Got hit that morning. Ripped my roof off, soaked the inside of the house. Wouldn't want to go through it again, but on a positive note Allstate pretty much paid to remodel my house.

I was there I was staying in Paty Hall when it hit hard. I can still remember me and a group of guys outside watching the clouds literally come together into a tornado and drop down. We all collectively let out a unified "HOLY shite"

Was huddled in my pantry with a couple of friends at Sumner Place when it came through. Missed our house by a hundred yards or so. If we had gotten hit, those cheapass houses would have been blown away.
NGL i still get goosebumps and a sickening feeling any time i hear a train (and I don’t see it) or if I hear sustained thunder for longer than a couple of seconds…
