I think this is best case scenario for AJ. The browns want him, want him to start, and will support him. Of he goes there, wins 5 Or 6 games next year, then 8 or 9 the next, he can force the browns hand by demanding a huge contact or getting traded to a contender who needs a good QB to win immediately. I like the fit personally and I agree that the browns have the immediate ability to fill holes and surprise a lot of people.

if the Browns weren't the Browns I'd be more excited. Solid defense and two top 5 picks - could potentially trade back the #1 for top 10 and another 1 and some other picks if they don't need a qb.

From the money side of things yeah. But they have had dozens of QBs start for them over the last 18 years. They just have the worst history of QBs in the league so I’m not happy about him going there.

This is shocking! I guess this tells us the Browns have a qb in the draft they like enough to take 1st overall. Tyrod is the definition of a bridge qb.

With the picks they have, AJ would have been a bridge too.

I want AJ to go to an established team and be a Keenum type.

Same but if they had enough confidence in AJ to not spend a top 5 pick on a QB he could have been setup for success imo.

If Cousins goes to Minnesota and Keenum to Denver, where does that leave AJ? Arizona or Buffalo, both of whom could draft QBs OR go with Bradford, Bridgewater, or trade for Foles.

Cleveland Browns trade out of AJ McCarron market (al.com)

...Does the trade of Taylor turn Buffalo into a likely landing spot for McCarron?

It already might have been. The Bills seemed to be on every list made of teams looking for a new quarterback this offseason.

But the Bills are in position now to dive into the quarterback-draft pool, too. Buffalo has two selections in each of the first three rounds of April's draft. And while the Bills' first pick isn't until No. 21, they have the draft stockpile to move up.

McCarron -- and every other player with an expiring contract -- will become a free agent at 3 p.m. CDT Wednesday, when the NFL's 2018 business year begins.

As an unrestricted free agent, the former Alabama All-American will be able to sign with any team that offers a contract. The teams that seem most in need of a new quarterback include the Bills, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets.

Which teams could be AJ McCarron's suitors in free agency?

McCarron won't be the only free-agent quarterback available next week. Cousins, Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater, Josh McCown, Geno Smith and Mike Glennon will be, too, and all have NFL starting experience. Drew Brees also will be a free agent, but he's expected to stay with the Saints after 12 seasons in New Orleans...

Broncos will only sign AJ as a desperation move. They are convinced they have a rapidly closing championship window and want a proven QB.

Would suck to go to the Browns but it may be his only starting opportunity

Kirk Cousins is signing with Minnesota.

Case Keenum to Denver.

Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland.

AJ to New York? Arizona?

Arizona would be best case scenario for AJ at this point.

Seems like the only two options left, and Sam Bradford/Teddy Bridgewater are still possibilities. AJ will obviously land somewhere, hopefully it's somewhere he gets a chance to start. I think Arizona is a way better situation for him than New York, but we'll see.

Sucks for AJ. La Canforna is saying the Jets are looking at McCown and Bridgewater. If the Cardinals can afford Bradford you would have to go with him over AJ. Anybody know what other options he has if the Jets and Cardinals come off the table? Starting to look like he will not be starting this year, which is sad.

There's really nothing else except the Bills, who looks like they're positioning themselves to move up and draft a QB.

MAYBE the Dolphins if they want to move on from Tannehill. The Giants still have Eli and will probably draft a QB. Not looking good for AJ. The QB market ended up being really deep this year.

Based on what you said it looks like he is pretty screwed. If you are looking for a bridge QB, 900 year old McCown is likely a better option for you. This is crazy especially since this is also one of the deepest QB drafts ever. Allen, Rosen, and Darnold would be the first 3 (at least top 5) picks most years. And that still would leave you Jackson, Mayfield, and Rudolph. Makes me wish he would have lost his grievance and was on the market next year. Sheesh, this stuff is crazy at times.
