Yep. Dubose is proving to be soft and his defensive coordinator can’t make adjustments. He’s also proven to be loyal to his assistants. After today, loyalty is going to be put to the test because Womack should be gone before we play South Carolina.

It’s all good. I’m pissed. Been in a mood since we lost. Trying to shape up so the kids and wife don’t think I’ve lost it.

Probably the Cheez It or Dukes Mayo Bowl.

Maybe we can play in the Birmingham Bowl and have home field advantage!

Wait, we had the crowd on our side today and still lost to Vanderbilt.

Assuming that Wommack is let go very soon, does Freddie Roach get promoted or Chuck Morrell ?

These next three games will tell the story on this bunch as well as this staff.

The offense is going to have to outscore all three because the front 7 on this crew is lacking.

I don’t know how the “cheesiest” commercials are still a thing. One of the worst things to happen to CFB since ESPN hired Fall Out Boy to do Playoff Theme song

The only thing we can hope for is that SOMETHING is done about the defense.

All of the players talking about playing to the “Alabama Standard” need to examine themselves and hold the others accountable or shut the frick up and give up the season.

I hope he gets the message that there is no SEC game on the schedule where the team can half-assed get it up and skate by on talent.

A friend of mine who posts on this board and is a former high school coach and may be along later to offer these thoughts himself sent me this after the game:

“I’m being honest on this assessment and I could be wrong of course.

“But prepping for the pistol offense and the option is something probably nobody on that staff was equipped for. They don’t see it, don’t know anything about it. I guarantee you our players don’t see it and you can’t emulate it in practice.

“I think they thought, ‘we’ll probably give up some yards, but we’re better athletic wise and we will be able to stop them.’

“But Vandy played a perfect game.”

I am hoping if my friend was on target, DeBoer got the message that you can’t count on that in the SEC.

Both lines are underperforming. We should have 40 rushes for 200 yards against the Vandy’s of the world. They lost to frickin Georgia State!

Nick mentioned Vandy's option type scheme this morning on Gameday. Said Bama doesn't see it often. He was spot on.

My only concern…

Was this game really a fluke? I don’t think so. I think we got blown off the LOS, coverage issues, Etc.

Look at it this way. Offense is high power against Georgia takes a big lead. Defense proceeds to give up a lot. We all say Georgia was in desperation mode and shake it off as an anomaly. Still get the W.

Today I just don’t know what to think about this. Was it the style they played and they had a perfect game? Maybe.

It’s a coaching issue. Complacency and lack of accountability.

People are very emotional right now...but Vandy doesnt have a typical Vandy team this year. They have wins over Bama and Va Tech. They went to double OT vs Mizzou and had their kicker miss an easy fg to lose the game(the same one that hit a 50+ yarder today). Bama wont be their last SEC win. They would be favored over Auburn on a neutral field

Yeah idk. Struggled until late against a crappy USF team but blamed it on injuries

Almost lost after giving up a 28-0 lead against UGA but blamed it on taking the foot off the gas

Now this. I honestly don’t know what to think.

But I will say KDB had a lot of sloppy wins last 2 years at UW. Some were against teams that were 0.500 or under. Of course they win those games but they weren’t pretty wins.

When’s the last time you heard of a team going 5 for 5 on 4th down? If we hold them on 2 or 3 of those attempts we might have won by a couple scores.

I just don’t know how hard it is to prepare for an option team like Vandy and a qb that seemed to make every play?

Of all the games we could have crapped the bed in, this was the worst one because it’s Vandy. Although this is not a bad Vandy team, people keep screeching about them losing to Georgia State but they shot themselves in the foot so many times that day they ought to have been playing in wheelchairs by the end of the game.

Two things can be true:
1) Bama played bad and has some serious issues to fix
2) Vandy literally played a perfect game and their coaches called an amazing game

Vandy is also not typical Vandy this season

I guess the next few games will tell us what we need to know. If we handle USC and Missouri I will feel better.

My opinion our toughest test is away at Tennessee and LSU who is finding their way.

A 2 loss team will easily get into the playoff. There will be plenty of them IMO.
