From Piedmont, AL
52
2011 graduate
Joined the Air Force right after HS. Moved around until I retired 25 years later.
Father and grandfathers were big Alabama fans, so it was inherited, but being an Alabama fan became significantly more important once I joined the military. I think it was a way to stay connected to and be proud of where you from. Gene Stallings made life good for me during his run.
Live in SC now, trying to get back to Bama.

Arrived at Bama in the fall of 2000 certain that we were going to win the championship. Freddie Milons' opening punt return against UCLA only fueled my certainty. And then, you know... Got a serving of Fran, a dash of Price, and graduated with Shula at the helm.
I know hard times.

It is beautiful, the mountains around that area are so pretty. But it’s just a small town and there really isn’t much to rely on as far as jobs go. NAFTA killed the textile jobs there. Most of my family still lives in the area.
I couldn’t wait to leave when I was there. Now I miss it.
