It's not. Not even close. It's not even about the run/pass ratio. Air raid offenses substitute quick underneath passes and WR screens for a traditional run game. We do very little of that. We're more of an Air Coryell type offense that lacks the ability to run the ball, which is a huge problem since the passing game in those systems is almost entirely vertical.

When watching videos explaining their UDub offense, they did love the air raid staple "mesh" as a counter for defenses built to take away the over the top throws. However, I would not call the offense air raid either because the run game is far more diverse than a traditional air raid offense. In fact, I think all the counters and outside zone stuff is meant to be part of the horizontal stretch of the defense that opens up more of the verticial elements.

I just dont see where the expectation has been lowered. Bama played the best defense in CFB and put up 400 yards. That is just gonna be what good defense is in this era of CFB.

Bama limited what is the best rushing attacks in the country(Mizzou and Georgia) and beat them.

Bama is playing with subpar running backs(Hill is average, Jam is terrible) and an Oline that is not physically a match for the scheme. Despite that Bama is winning. Theyd have won on Saturday if players had executed simple things(kicking easy field goals, protecting the ball)

It’s people still stuck in the 2010s who think what we accomplished in the 2010s and the way it was accomplished is carved in stone forevermore and for all time. Not understanding that college football is a completely different universe in 2025 and Saban’s process would have a lot tougher time working now like it did then.

Our standard should be winning. Period. Nothing less is acceptable.

But again, if people can’t accept that there are never going to be any more metaphysically certain guarantees week to week … that every team from top to bottom in the SEC has a conceivable chance to knock off every other team in the SEC if the stars align on a given night … they need to find a different pastime.

I hate to go off on another rabbit trail, but if they want to worry about something, they need to worry about if we can keep up with the Joneses in NIL. There’s no white knight riding in to change that, and I am not sure if we can match checkbooks with some of the schools and people who think our tradition will carry the day might be sorely disappointed.

Why is that such a wild take ? All it entails is a first round bye, which was within reach this season untill last Saturday, and winning their first playoff game. I don't think asking for 1 playoff win in DeBoer's first 3 seasons is being unrealistic.

That’s nice but it doesn’t mean much when you lose a game where you double them in yards gained.
You’re going to ignore the 3 retarded turnovers?

We had the ball 9 more minutes than Oklahoma. Guess OP wants to double the opposition.

Honestly, what kind of elite running backs and o-linemen will want to come here if we keep this philosophy?

Well we currently have the best RB prospect since Leonard Fournette committed

Defensively we get a nice boost with Russaw coming back. We need to learn to catch on that side of the ball they had one easy pick on Mateer and one tougher one with one or both its a different game it just wasnt our night.

Offensively, ball security. Honestly OU got away with murder on defense and special teams. The pic six was PI and the FG deflection was a violation, poor officiating but it shouldnt have come down to it. No excuse on the early punt return poor tacking and Ty has to learn not to hold the ball forever.
