Weird stat of the day: Milroe has a higher passer rating than Bryce did.

175 to 163.2 (final season)

However, Bryce had a higher QBR which factors in sacks, fumbles, etc.

Bryce was clearly an all around better QB but Milroe does possess elite passing skills and we have a better team around him this season.

If you take Bryce off last years squad we lose 4-5 games.

Milroe's big play ability in the passing game helps QB rating. For the year over 10% of his pass completions go for at least 40 yards. For Bryce that was 4%.

Yep. His YPA is a yard higher than Bryce’s.

I think our OC is actually better than last season, and our receiver are better this year.

I honestly hate these types of comments. Yes, if you remove a team's star QB they suddenly lose more games. Shocking. This could be said for almost every single team.

Not true. Most teams wouldn’t lose 2-3 more games with a backup.

My point being, this years team would probably be beating teams by 20 points per with Bryce instead of Milroe.

Milroe has an excellent deep ball, but terrible pocket awareness and check down ability.

When the players are running the plays correctly, this is pretty obvious. Second half against Tennessee was a beautiful gameplan.

BoB seemed like he didn’t GAF about game planning or adapting. He ran the same shite again and again no matter the opponent or if it didn’t work

You so called Bama fans are going to hate Jalen Milroe right into the National Championship Game. #KeepHating RN's!

This is why you shouldn't rely on stats too heavily to judge how good a player is.

There's some truth to what you say. Stats are certainly not everything. But they do sober up some who want to go by the eye-test or those who have some bias or agenda.

Milroe's numbers can't be denied. They force some who can't or won't see his value to either acknowledge him to some degree or shut up or at least lighten up on their insistent criticism. Without the numbers, the criticism would be far greater than it still remains.

The coaches chose JM over TS and TB. Looks like they clearly made the right choice but some refuse to see it and vent their resentment at every chance. Many of JM's completions are accompanied by some caveat or criticism with few, if any, comments offered without complaint of some kind by a vocal, ungrateful, whining minority.

Jalen is 6th in the COUNTRY in passer efficiency rating. No, he's likely not the 6th best passer in the country but he's much better than a vocal minority of his own team's fan base gives him credit for. How dare him put up such good numbers. #2 in the SEC. But they yammer on about THEIR OWN QB.

Yeah I know PFF but still:

Jalen Milroe continues to prove that he’s the right man for the job in Alabama’s quarterback room. Since being benched against USF, the redshirt sophomore’s 90.1 grade trails only Jayden Daniels and J.J. McCarthy among Power Five quarterbacks.

Well said.

As many flaws as Milroe has, it could much, much worse. I could point out many power 5 teams as examples. I am thankful that Milroe can, and does make big plays, often times when the pressure is high. That in itself is a great quality for a QB to possess.

We all saw the world in which Milroe wasn't our starting QB, and it was bleak, brother.

I think the yards per completion really helps Milroe. Also he often doesn't throw the ball if there's nothing there, which means a sack or a short run.

Milroe is probably a top 30 QB in the country. Not what we are used to but it certainly could be worse. I think Jalen ultimately has been judged against Bryce Young and Mac Jones and Tua, and not against other guys playing the position right now. I guess that comes with the territory of being at UA.

It’s funny how Blake Sims is almost universally beloved on here. He had a lot of similarities to Milroe

I think a lot of people have amnesia about the reality of our QB position pre-2018. There were several years where we weren't getting high-level QB play.

My only issue with Milroe is missing easy throws underneath and his lack of pocket feel/awareness.

The O line hasn't been great at all but Milroe also needs to learn how step up in the pocket or side step pressure. Help your pass blockers out. Also holds the ball too long. We need his running ability. Milroe has to take off when there's room to take off. Then slide.

With that said he's improving. I like Milroe. With experience he will get better and better. We just need him to take the next step quicker than he's capable of right now.
