How was it first and 1

I assume that blind side blocks are "spot" fouls. Meaning the penalty yardage is marked off from where the penalty occurs.
Just so happens that when they marked off the yardage, it was at the location that made it 1st and 1

Spot foul and replay the down. Happened 14 yards downfield I guess.

I’m pretty sure was because the penalty put the offense back inside the down markers of the original line of scrimmage, because it was a penalty from the spot of the foul. So, 1st and 10, the block happened 24 yards downfield, -15 yard penalty puts you back to only a 9 yard gain and the down stays at 1. First and 1.
I’ll readily admit I could be wrong.

A better trick would be to explain how TF they called false start on Bama when LSU jumped into the neutral zone.

I still maintain there should have been a 10 second runoff after that penalty. LSU was out of time outs when it happened.
