If GA loses that gives them their 3rd loss. Would our head to head match up not help us then? I know the committee said they won’t punish a team for making the championship and losing but we would both have 3 losses and we have the head to head win in our pocket.

I agree with everyone that GA winning can help our best win argument. But them losing can help us too

If we are in over a 2 loss Miami we should be in over a 2 loss SMU as well

Agreed. But we'll just have to see if the committee is willing to drop a team for losing their conference championship. They haven't actually said they would or wouldn't, just that it'll be a conversation.

I’m in the camp of if you lose the game you should be penalized for losing especially if you played the weaker teams in your conference to get there then lose when you meet a better opponent

Yeah it would be different if SMU were playing a one-loss Miami and they lost a close game.

SMU is playing a 3-loss Clemson who got beat by two SEC teams this season. If SMU loses to them not only do they not have a top 25 victory, they would have lost to BYU and Clemson their only tough opponents.

There is no route for them to be in. They have to beat Clemson

I saw a projection where we would probably play Penn State if we are at #11.

That would be the best we could ask for.

Would prefer the following:

1) SMU win
2) SMU blowout loss
3) UGA dominant win (or even close win would probably be enough since we’d have win over #2 team)
4) UGA gets absolutely destroyed

If any of the top 3 happen, we should be in. If #4 happens, I still don’t think we get in over 3-loss UGA who beat the ACC champions, but maybe if the loss was bad enough the H2H could come into play.

Close UGA loss coupled with close SMU loss is the worst outcome, IMO (although if UGA is in no matter what, then we’d want close UGA loss over them getting destroyed and just hope the SMU close loss is enough to drop SMU out).

In my opinion I was operating on both Texas and Georgia getting in from go.

The real only toss up is SMU if they lose.

I think we are in good shape.

I think Ga is irrelevant, as I think they are in. If we are ahead of Miami on Tuesday, we need an Smu win, or Clemson to annihilate them. JMO

We have the H2H over SC but one of the things that keeps us ahead of them is our win over UGA being better than their best win. If UGA loses and Clemson wins, then one could argue that their win over 3-loss ACC champion is better than our win over 3 loss SEC runner up, just because of the Championship. UGA destroyed Clemson opening week so that would be a weak argument, but I don’t like being only 1 spot ahead of SC and having their resume get a boost and ours takes a hit. Think UGA winning might matter if Clemson wins, as that still gives us the better win.

I don’t think anyone on the committee thinks smu is actually better than Bama they just gotta have the nuts to drop them if they lose to Clemson

I get that. I was really meaning Uga is in regardless. Wasn't looking at the resume. But them winning would be better.

Punishing a championship game loser with that big of a drop won’t happen. If Clemson wins, ACC gets two in. If SMU wins, I think we’re in.

It’s pretty black and white at this point.

I think we can assume Texas and UGA are in. Regardless of any win or loss next weekend.

That loss would come to a team that got beat by South Carolina and Georgia both teams which were beat by Bama I think they would consider both of those things and SMU’s weak schedule

Tom Luginbill and Barrett Sallee on SiriusXM college sports radio today were pumping some Gamecock sunshine.
And they have a few valid points:
1. They are playing well now
2. Their QB was injured in the 2nd half of the LSU game, a game they should have won anyway if it weren't for the refs.

If they send 4 Big10 teams, they'll send 4 SEC teams.
