Harsin did fine at Boise but nothing mind blowing. I think that program is far better than most of their conference competition. I think Auburn will be more consistent under him but will probably beat us less.

I’m happy with the change because for all his flaws, Gus was pretty good at beating us compared to how other coaches have faired.

Yea that is kind of my thought. They will be consistently average/above average, but that consistency means less lows but also less highs. As noted, Gus found ways at home to give us fits every single trip to JHS. The Harsin/Peterson offense does not scare me in the same way the boom or bust Gus offense did. At all. Overall, Harsin might be a bit better than Gus, but Alabama centric? Big win for us.

Heupel is actually probably a bit of the opposite. Similar to Pruitt record-wise but in the complete opposite way stylistically.

Everyone should be ecstatic that our two biggest rivals had an opening and neither of them hired Hugh Freeze.

Oh absolutely - if you had told me 3 months ago that Auburn and Tennessee would be available I'd have almost guaranteed one of them hired Freeze.

Freeze has been blacklisted from the SEC. He really stepped on a lot of toes during his time at Ole Miss.

Heard on the radio today some radio host/ journalist type guy says he has more damaging evidence on Freeze he would bring out if he got a P5 job . Makes no sense to me why you wouldn’t bring it now if he has more dirt but maybe the PTB know more of some of his activities

It was on the Rick Neuheisel / Childers show and Rick was taking up for Freeze

Tennessee deserves all the misery that's coming to them just for all of the hatred they spew toward Butch.

Gus really fricked them over. Did he just basically decide to stop recruiting?
Gus was a stubborn mule and paranoid as hell. He never hired outside the box, and brought in his men or former AU players (Kodi Burns/Caddy Williams) with little to no P5 experience to his staff. He was so wishy-washy that he didn't know whether he wanted to be the OC or the CEO-HC.

Every year he put himself in a position to have to deal with hot-seat rumors, beating Bama a few times saved his arse and got him that ridiculous contract.

Last year, he had some of his own staff stabbing him in the back and had to play and all SEC schedule which was eventually his demise when he stated he thought 6-4 was a solid season in one of his pressers. He lost the faith of the AU boosters and supporters on the recruiting trail and they cut him off.

He lost his team at times when we saw Nix yelling at his coaches and teammates on the sidelines, acting like a brat. Then when his players were laughing and cutting up on the sidelines in some of those losses, Gus was finished.
