I didn't think he needed to be fired.

But if you read the report there are some troubling things. I paraphrase...Urbs has a history of forgetting things in troubling times...he found a way to delete texts on his phone a few days after the story broke, so the investigative committee could only see texts less than a year old.

These two things in particular scream TROUBLE. I think finding a way to remove texts from your phone, in attempt to hide something is a fireable offense.

He certainly can't afford for another scandal to come to light, that's for sure. Even it's another one that he shouldn't have to answer for at all.

Why even have a press conference? Just put out a report and be done with it. The president and Urban looked lost and stumbled over their words, Smith seemed to come to everybody's defense at times. There were no hard questions fro the media until the end and then they said no further questions.

I would not want to be in the Chancellor's shoes

Urbs deserved to get fired but then you tank the football program and the cash cow for the next few years. Recruiting would go to hell and it would be a disaster. All the boosters would forget that Urban is a scumbag and the AD and Chancellor get pushed out eventually. Hell - Tressell got fired over trading tattoos for jerseys but Urban skates on covering up domestic violence? WTF?

Urban deserved more but its probably the right call.

OSU is going to look bad no matter what happened or will. I would not be surprised by the spring Urban is fired. Brett McMurphy is on a mission now once Meyer's lawyer threatened him. He and others will continue to dig and now that Z Smith is gone and no longer has the protection of the university who knows what he might be capable of.

The image of the program and the university is tarnished now and they had a chance to save face and chose not to. This is far from over I think

Yeah. The investigation report had substantial evidence that Meyer and the AD both had swept Zach Smith's issues under the rug, that Meyer has lied about what he knew and also deleted text messages from his phone that would prove he knew.

Meyer has been covering up Smith's behaviors since they were at UF. OSU didn't even vet Smith when they hired him. The BOT didn't want to suspend them, but the President insisted on it.

Imo, Meyer and the AD both deserve to be fired with cause. At the very least they should've been suspended without pay for at least six months.

This. And about 5 dozen other investigative reporters are going to dig even further. McMurphy has already said this story is far from over.

I bet there were dozens of public records request filed at 8am this morning for Urban Meyer's texts from over a year ago.

That committee report ($500,000) was a complete joke. It was worse than anything Urban did, or didn't do. Said Urbans lie wasn't a lie, "but its complicated". Urban said he knew nothing about the 2015 incident, but Urban started a group text the night before on how to deal with that question. So the committee said it was an unintentional misstatement. "memory loss". total BS You cant make this stuff up. I need to get a note from my Dr so I can lie all I want.
