I stopped at a place called Hook's in Troy last week on the way back from the beach and thought it was good. Won't make any best in the state lists, but if you're going through Troy and in the mood for BBQ, it's way better than Country's.
Archibald's, Saw's, and Miss Myra's are my 3 favorites in the state.

Big Bob Gibson was up for the Big Apple BBQ fest. Was fantastic.

Recent change in ownership. Rumor has it that the hickory pit is BACK. I intend to try it again.
I knew about the change in ownership. I will verify if the pit is back. I did hear they have Bay's sauce recipe.
Edited to add I have verified the pit is back, so I will be giviving it a test. Back in the day it was the home of the best smoked pork butts you could find.

If you knew Bay, then I probably know you. His was the best barbecue in the history of barbecue.

Not sure if this one has been said, Little Nick's in Huntsville is pretty good.
Do you mean Little Paul's over by the hospital? I've never heard of a Little Nick's in Huntsville.
But Little Paul's should be on the list. Pretty good BBQ, and really good burgers.
