Yeah, not a terrible loss imo. I wanted all new blood anyway.

If Oats wants to keep Pett, I can live with it. But I wouldn’t want any more than that.

Apparently Kira Lewis is going to draw this process out. We won't know for a while. Looks like he's going to take his visits to a few schools.

Where you hear this at Baw?

Allen looks good. I would feel better about next year if we could get him and he is eligible.

Buzz Williams

What is it about him that everyone likes so much? I haven't watched much (or really any) VT basketball lately, but his best finish in the ACC was this year, at 5th place. I know the ACC is a tough conference, but he hasn't exactly set the world on fire over there.

Basically a Memphis insider said no quick decision and that Memphis, Baylor, Nevada and Iowa State got in home visits before dead period.

No way to know if this is accurate but that's the word on BOL. The more he practices with the team the better.

Not sure why he would be interested in Baylor with Butler already there.

Yea Houston did a nice job but, and I'm not being a smug arse, I could put together a tiered list of opponents and locations to optimize our schedule.

To be honest I could do it in a weekend.

VT had been to 2 NCAAT since 1986 when he was hired. They went to 3 straight. At a place that is probably a bottom 3 ACC job.

Guy can coach. I don't think he's elite, but he's very good and A&M will consistently be a good, NCAA quality team.

Va Tech won 2 ACC games the year before Buzz got there. Two. Look at them now. The guy built it from the ground up. Home run hire.

So they have in home visits scheduled? Not Kira taking visits? There is a big difference. If he is taking visits, that is not good at all.

Excluding the Buzz years, VTech has a significantly worse bball history than every SEC school by a large margin

Am I wrong to feel like Kira is being a bit petulant about the situation? I get putting your name in the portal to CYA before a coach is announced, but we hired a good coach (it appears) and he’s recruiting the hell out of you and you’re a perfect fit for what he wants to do. If you transfer, there’s a good chance you’ll have to sit out a year. Everyone else is at least giving the guy a chance and buying it. So why is he playing hard to get? I’m really starting to think bad things. What do y’all think?

He has a right to make his own choice. Doesn't make him a bad kid because he not rushing his decision.

I think he's a highly sought after player who is basically a 5-star in the current class PLUS impressive SEC experience. Because of that, he has very specific opportunities at places he didn't before, and he's probably interested to see what they have to say.

I mean I like the Oats hire but if Coach K says listen you come, sit out, take over as our starting PG in 2021........yea I very much get being intrigued by that. No issues with it.

Some Bama fans said some really shitty things to Kira and his mom on Twitter towards the end of the season, so I wouldn't blame him one bit if he left.

He's also young. Most of us are older and understand the phrase "the grass isn't always greener." If he leaves, he leaves, and the program goes on. If he stays, fantastic. We need him. But it's his, and his family's, choice, and we don't really have any right to criticize it.
