I think we have a pretty serious need for an experienced big. I am a Juwan Gary stan just like you are, but I would not be remotely comfortable with him being our only true front court player with experience next year. Rojas can't defend the post at all, and KAH, Tchikou, Wilson, and Bediako (assuming he signs) have a ton of talent but no experience at this level.

Yeah, I would like to add an athletic guy that is at least like 6'8".

I 100% agree that it's the most glaring need that we have.

On paper we have numbers and young talent, so you could make an argument that it's not a glaring need, but that's sort of getting into semantics. It's a more glaring need than the perimeter for sure.

I also am maybe more hesitant about Tchikou than some others. Not his talent - he looks like a big time talent. But a ruptured achilles is a nasty injury. It might take him a while to get to 100%.

I want another one to replace Rojas if he transfers out is what I am saying.

ETA: and Wilson isn't experienced.

With Ohio State having an early exit, I hope we display enough in the tournament to get Bediako to commit. Seems like his recruitment is down to us and the Buckeyes.

I wish we'd had Tchikou all year...we could really use him now with a gimpy Bruner. In an ideal world with he and Bruner both healthy we'd have more than enough firepower to take on anyone.

You wouldn't have to ask Gary and Rojas to be what they are not. Rojas is really about 6'7 on a good day and we ask him to be a 5 at times. You can only be what you are.

He is probably a little hesitant with Bama’s system. Ohio State is a better fit for him if he wants to be a classic big, but I think Bama will develop his skill sets more for the NBA.

Barry Dunning is one of the most interesting prospects in the 2022 class.

Hoop dreams? oh, and Barry also has Doctor dreams. The 6-foot-6 prospect is not only a high-level prospect rated within the Top-50 juniors in America, but, Dunning told Stockrisers.com the last time we spoke that one day he hopes to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor.

Dunning has been a highly-touted prospect for quite some time. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, several scouts came in and watched the future NBA hopeful and he has asserted himself as one of the must-get players in the current junior class.

This spring and summer, he will now have the chance to prove himself one on one of the highest levels of basketball in the world: The EYBL circuit. Dunning will be playing his AAU basketball with Nightrydas Elite, the Florida-based AAU program usually loaded with talent, and clearly, they aren’t doing any slowing down.

In addition, Dunning hit the 1,000-point plateau this season, another nice addition to the nice high school resume of the Alabama native. Makes you wonder, what will he do during his senior year? Only time will tell.

Dunning updated Stockrisers.com on his recruitment and broke down a few programs heavily involved in his recruitment.

Which programs are heavily involved in your recruitment?

“Samford, WKU, Alabama, Arkansas, Memphis, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, LSU.”

What are your thoughts on the Arkansas system and how they’ve played?

“They play at a very fast pace and they love being out on the break. They’ve got an open offense to let their players just go to work together.”

And how about for the Alabama Crimson Tide?

“It’s the home state. They really excel on the break and the best three-point shooting teams play with a chip on their shoulder and that’s what I see.”

What about a program like Memphis?

“They are big on player development, working on each player's game, breaking down film, etc. At game time, the coaching stays put and they let the players work.”

How would you describe your game?

“I’m a three-level scorer. Take defense just as hard as I do offensively. The mid-range game is what I feel is unique about my game and how well I play on the fast break.”

And in what areas do you feel you need the most work?

“Really getting my body right. Improving my ball-handling and shooting.”

Commitment timeline?

“Around December or January.”

Well, better rule him out then.

Found this, not sure if there is more...

I don’t have access to the article, but he was Birmingham area kid, Huffman I think, before going private for his senior year.

At one point 247 had him as a 5*. I remember him having some Ivy League interest, so if he’s an early grad from PSU, I’d want him here. He can score
