***Nugget on top hoops target set for decision...

By Tim Watts:
quote:

Bama fans will want to watch Jusaun Holt’s decision on Sunday, 9/27, closely. The four-star small forward is set to announce a final decision after narrowing his list to five: Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Washington, and Xavier. Many have felt Xavier would be the pick heading into this weekend’s announcement, but it sounds like Alabama has grabbed the momentum here of late. Sources close to Holt believe the Bama staff has done the best job recruiting him, with a tag-team effort led by Nate Oats and Antoine Pettway, while Charlie Henry and Bryan Hodgson have also pitched in. Sources went on to say Bama’s style of play is a big factor working in the Tide’s favor to go along with the personal relationships that have been built. This would be a huge addition coming off a hot streak to close out the 2020 class. Holt is one the Tide’s most coveted targets. He’s one of the best shooters in the ’21 class with length and he can defend.

Holt would be a tremendous fit in the basketball program. Hope it works out that he commits to us.

Guys that can shoot and have solid length...it’d be weird to keep filling our roster with folks like that and not just athletes

Maybe that whole ordeal will be settled before 2022.

Memphis native and four-star senior Johnathan Lawson is down to six schools and has also set his commitment date. Lawson, the dynamic-wing, is down to Iowa State, Oregon, Alabama, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Memphis.

The Tigers are the sixth and final school that Lawson added to his original final list. Penny Hardaway offered him a few months back, then didn't make the cut for his final list and then Lawson ended up adding them on August 31st.

Lawson will commit on October 7th, his 18th birthday. He’s also weighing a possible reclass into the 2020 class. The reclass wouldn't be immediate, he would opt to enroll in January and begin developing under one of these program’s systems.

No favorite in the recruitment currently for Lawson who says that he also grew to 6-foot-8 this summer.

CB confidence: Watts high (8), Snow high (7).

Brian Snow: "As I said in another thread, I am hearing the same things Watts is. Jusuan did his final talks with Xavier and Alabama the past few days, I firmly believe that Alabama is the choice heading into the announcement weekend."

How big of a class are we thinking we’ll sign this year? Definitely 4 but maybe 5 or 6? Petty, Herb, Reese, and Bruner will all be gone. Then you’ve gotta assume at least one transfer and maybe someone like Primo could be one and done?

If Holt joins the fold, who do we think are still our top targets? Davison, Cardet, Bediako, Houston, Sallis...who else am I missing?

Kid is a killer just by looking at him. You can see he's a gym rat, who happens to have talent.
