How big of a class are we thinking we’ll sign this year? Definitely 4 but maybe 5 or 6? Petty, Herb, Reese, and Bruner will all be gone. Then you’ve gotta assume at least one transfer and maybe someone like Primo could be one and done?

Yeah, basically exactly what you said imo. Definitely 4 with a chance to be as much as 6.

The guaranteed open spots will be:

Petty
Herb
Reese
Bruner

Another possible open spot could open up if Primo declares for the NBA. On one hand it would suck to lose a player of his caliber, but if he declares with what I would have to assume would be a first round or maybe even lottery grade, that would mean he had a strong freshman season and would give the staff another positive recruiting pitch for the future. Given Primo's age, the NBA will be highly interested in him if he performs as well as many think he will, but I suppose his age could also work in our favor of getting him to stay a second season as well. I guess it would ultimately boil down to what he and his family think is best, but if he would be considered a consensus lottery pick at that point, it's hard to imagine him coming back for a sophomore season.

Another potential spot could open up if Tchikou blows up. More of a long shot than Primo, but the NBA is going to love Tchikou. I don't think he'll be here after his sophomore season.

Transfers could always produce another spot or two, but it's hard to say right now who that could be. I guess someone like Gary could be considered a potential transfer candidate. His injury is keeping him behind schedule and could get him buried on the depth chart. Just tough to predict right now though imo.

If Holt joins the food, who do we think are still our top targets? Davison, Cardet, Bediako, Houston, Sallis...who else am I missing?

Davison, Cardet, Bediako and Houstan for sure.

Davison i'm not very confident in tbh. Maybe he's just playing the game, but it almost feels like he is looking for any reason to not go to Alabama. Still think the G League is possibility as well.

I think Cardet very well may be our biggest target. It seems like the staff is all over him and I think we are in excellent shape with him. Kid is a baller and would fit the system perfectly.

Bediako is obviously a major target. The staff has made him a priority for a long time now. He's holding a bunch of offers and can go just about anywhere he wants. Hopefully the relationship that Hodgson and Oats have with him pulls us through. The Canadian ties he has with Primo and KAH can help.

Speaking of Candian ties, that could also help us with Caleb Houstan. He played for the same AAU program as Primo and KAH.

I'm sure we would absolutely love to have Sallis, but it kind of feels like he has cooled on us now that he's holding offers from UK and UNC. JMO.

Alex Fudge is another, but it seems like he is higher on some other schools. Just my feeling.

Moussa Diabate and Jonas Aidoo are two more, but I legit don't know anything about their recruitment. Neither seem to be covered as much as our other targets.

Darius Johnson is PG that is set to announce on October 1st between us, UCF and Providence. He is supposedly very underrated and our staff likes him a lot, but his dad is the Director of Player Development at UCF, so I kind of just assume that's where he'll go.

Langston Wilson is a Juco kid that Hodgson is recruiting. He supposedly has 40+ offers, so who knows where we stand with him or where he'll end up.

There may be others, but this is about all I can thik of at the moment.

That's four CB's today - all with high confidence.

Feeling more optimistic based on who the CB's are from, but I also thought Carter Whitt was going to Nebraska based on CB predictions too.

Jerry Meyer has joined the fun and submitted a CB for Holt to Alabama with high confidence.

That's five now.

After the Pettway discussion in here a day or two ago, it should be noted that Pett is the primary recruiter for Jusaun Holt.

Watts’ nuggets said that Oats and Pettway had a tag team effort in the recruitment of Holt and that Hodgson and Charlie Henry have also pitched in.

The fact that we seemingly put on a full court press for Holt shows how highly Oats and the staff are on him. Pett recruited him well enough to give us a shot and deserves some credit for it.

Came across this quote from a 2022 recruit named Mason Manning.

quote:

Auburn: “They’re basically Guard U. It just speaks for itself really.”

I'm not really sure what they are basing it on, but the AU staff seems to really be trying to hammer it home with recruits that they are PGU or Guard U or whatever. Seen too many recruits mention it for it not to be what AU is selling them on.

They’re is no proof to backup that claim either. We’ve had 2 1st round picks in the last 3 years at PG......They’ve had 5’6 Jared Harper

Not really knowledgeable enough to go into any real depth on this topic, but after a quick Google search it looks like the best PG's Pearl has had in his AU and UT stints are some order of Jared Harper, J'Von McCormick, CJ Watson and Chris Loftin.

I could've missed someone obvious, but that's what I saw on a quick search.

You didn't miss anyone of the caliber of Kira Lewis or Colin Sexton. That should be enough, but soon you can add Q to that list. Guard U my arse! Auburn is about due for another basketball probation cycle. It's as predictable and regular as Haley's Comet.

I think when it is all said and done we are going to look back and wonder how Holt was outside the top 100 on the major rankings websites. You can list Holt as a Small Forward or Shooting Guard, or Wing, it doesn’t matter because at 6’7 he is a straight up player and when he makes his college decision on September 27th I think whatever college gets his services is getting an absolute steal in the 2021 class. His level of confidence and tenacity all summer with Team Dickerson was through the roof and he went at and didn’t back down from anyone put in front of him. He has shot the deep ball at an elite level all summer both off the catch and shoot and off the dribble added with his ability to put the ball on the floor and get into the paint and you combine this with his overall defensive versatility being able to guard almost every position on the floor is why I am so high on him for the collegiate level.

Jusaun Holt's 247 page was updated yesterday to add a scouting report from Jerry Meyer.

quote:

Scouting Report

EVALUATED 09/25/2020

Jerry Meyer
DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL SCOUTING

PROJECTION
Power-5 Starter

Has good size for a wing. Shoots the ball well and has great potential as a shooter. Not a powerful nor explosive athlete, but is a smooth athlete with a feel for the game and ability to make unorthodox plays. Decent handle and passing ability. Needs to gain strength and mass. Has potential as a defender and rebounder.

2:06 of this video

I'm not a great phonetic speller, but i'll try to explain it in case you can't watch at the moment.

Ju-saun

The "Ju" is pronounced like "duh",but with a "J".

The "saun" is pronounced like the word sauna without the "a" on the end.

Juh-saun

Jusaun

That's the best I can do.
