So by now it's pretty clear that Oats has a type of player he likes to sign. It's very refreshing to see our basketball recruiting have a very clear and well defined plan rather than just signing whoever we can to fill out the roster.

He likes Big Guards that can shoot and play hard. That is what I interpret as his type.

When it comes to what Holt will bring to Oats’ team, Stephens said, “This is not my opinion, it is what I have seen. Jusaun is a top three defender in America and one of the best shooters in the nation. Also, he is an A-plus rebounder and I really believe he is a top 20 talent.”

Looks like JD Davison followed Holt on Instagram right after he committed.

Probably meaningless, but glad to see Davison is following us closely still.

I don’t think we get Davison but Imagine a class of Davison, Cardet, Bediako, and Holt.

That would be our best class EVER

I would say we still have a good shot at Davison as long as he doesn't go down the golden brick road. Now if going rogue in college becomes the norm we won't be getting any more 5-stars from in-state. That would be a real shame.

Jusaun Holt, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward from St. Francis Day School (GA), made the call on Sunday.

“I will be taking my talents to The University of Alabama,” he told ZAGSBLOG ahead of his public announcement. “What made me pick them is just an overall fit for me. Play style, close enough to home, coach [Nate] Oats, and available minutes.”

Ranked the No. 20 small forward in the Class of 2021 by 247Sports.com Holt also considered Xavier, Wake Forest, Miami, Georgia and Washington. He is Alabama’s first commit in 2021.

“His level of confidence and tenacity all summer with Team Dickerson was through the roof and he went at and didn’t back down from anyone put in front of him,” wrote Shun Williams of On the Radar Hoops. “He has shot the deep ball at an elite level all summer both off the catch and shoot and off the dribble added with his ability to put the ball on the floor and get into the paint and you combine this with his overall defensive versatility being able to guard almost every position on the floor is why I am so high on him for the collegiate level.”

Oats and Hodgson putting that class together during the COVID craziness was so bad arse.
