Maybe Alabama having no *documented* virus cases will be a big draw. Hey, whatever it takes....lol

There goes the “maybe he just needed a RS year” theory. Hate it for him. He seemed so excited to be here.

Next tweet from Cecil:

At this point I wouldn’t be shocked if UA ended up with five or six new names for 2020-21

Seems clear now he obviously isn’t very good and whatever Oats and Hodgson were hoping for didn’t come to fruition. Hopefully we replace him with someone much better. We need it.

Oats should find a place for Hawkins somewhere; why not at Buffalo where he originally was going to sign. They should take him.

I feel like that’s where he’s gonna go. He’s liking tweets from Buffalo fans already and they want him

Yeah, I would love to hear an off the record candid response from Nate on what exactly happened between Raymond signing and today.

Be hard not to tbh. Basically like replacing a walk on. He played five total minutes over six games all season. Wish him all the best.

He wasn’t good. Bottom line. Idk whether he was forced out or left on his own but I know this is something I’m sure they wanted to happen. Opens a spot for someone who can contribute immediately

Hard to say honestly, feel like maybe a little of both.

Two different walkons got more minutes than him though. Don't see how the staff isn't ok with this. Seems like Ray maybe saw that he wouldn't get any PT here and wanted to move on. Nate seems like an honest guy though and may have told him as much.

This entire isnt good thing isnt true imo. Dudes take time to develop and learn what to do. You think we just going to go out and get someone better than him this kate in the process?

I really think this was either a misevaluation by Oats and the staff or a flyer taken on a kid they hoped would develop into a serviceable SEC big.

If it was the former, well, it happens to the best of them. If it was the latter, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Maybe Nate had seen enough film to know how weak we were down low and thought it worth the gamble.

Good luck,young man.

Cecil said he was behind a walk on, so it wouldn't be hard to replace him.

He’s so underskilled, I truly wonder if Oats was doing somebody a favor by still honoring Hawkins’ offer. It also may go alongside the fact he had so little time to recruit that he was willing to roll the dice on him.

He was behind walk-ons. Finding a grad transfer or JuCo kid who can do better than that won't be difficult.

Oats seemed very high on him when he signed. He missed on that eval obviously.

I didn’t (don’t) want to overreact, but the first time I saw Hawkins come into a game for several minutes it was sort of glaringly obvious that he wasn’t very athletic. Like at all.

He just didn’t even look very comfortable running up and down the court. Frankly it looked like somebody who’d grown like 6 inches in the past year. Or somebody that was hurt.
