In game number one last night for Prolific Prep, five-star guard Nimari Burnett dropped 23 points on an efficient shooting night for him.

Alabama had an assistant in attendance and Oregon sends one in to watch Burnett today.

I am afraid we are setting ourelves up for some major disappointment regarding recruiting but I guess it is okay to dream big.

Is Nimari landing in Lubbock realistic? How far behind Bama and Oregon is TTU?

quote:

Yes, it’s pretty realistic. I have them and Alabama currently at the top for Nimari’s list. Not sure why nobody is mentioning them with him.

Beard and Ulric Malagi have kept close tabs and have given TTU a realistic shot to land him.

Top-five junior Jabari Smith Jr. discusses his recruitment which includes interest from Duke, Kentucky, and Michigan. In addition, he tells @Stockrisers he will visit Alabama on November 9th.

quote:

Jabari Smith Jr. is one of the nation’s top-ranked juniors being rated amongst the Top-10 by every single recruiting outlet. He was outstanding for USA Basketball a few months back and once again he shined at USA camp in October.

“I can do everything on the floor. Shoot, pass, handle the ball, post up, defend all positions, and I will do anything to win,” Smith Jr. told Stockrisers.com. The dynamic big is currently listed anywhere between 6-9 and 6-10 by several outlets.

As for his recruitment, he says that he will take an unofficial visit to Alabama on November 9th. He listed the Tide as one of the schools that are currently on him the hardest.

Also on that list: Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, and LSU.

In addition, he says that Duke, Michigan, and Kentucky have been in ‘not to long ago’ and they’ve shown tons of interest. He’s discussed being interested in Kentucky before but from what it seems is that he is currently open to any school on him.

Many have wondered could Smith Jr. possibly reclassify. His current answer: No

The bigger question for UK’s future roster is in the frontcourt, where the Cats have just one commitment — from four-star power forward Lance Ware — and could realistically lose all three of their frontcourt players off the current roster.

As it stands, highly touted forward Isaiah Jackson — a 6-foot-9 player from the Detroit area — seems to be the only real possibility to join Kentucky’s frontcourt class in the early period.

Jackson has narrowed his choices to UK, Alabama and Syracuse, and he’s already taken official visits to all three schools. His recruitment has been a fluid one, with Michigan State and UK both taking turns as perceived favorites earlier this year.

He’s expected to reveal a college decision on Nov. 15, though no exact details for such an announcement have been confirmed, and his Crystal Ball outlook is a mess. Michigan State, a school that has already been eliminated from his list, is currently the favorite on his 247Sports page, a product of several outdated picks and ongoing uncertainty. National recruiting expert Andrew Slater did make a prediction in favor of Alabama in September, and 247Sports analyst Jerry Meyer followed suit a few weeks later.

No other national experts have weighed in, and neither of Rivals.com’s national analysts — Eric Bossi and Corey Evans — had made a Future Cast prediction on Jackson’s player page, as of Tuesday morning.

“I’m still not entirely confident on selecting a (favorite) for him,” Evans told the Herald-Leader on Monday night. “I think Alabama has undoubtedly worked the hardest on his recruitment. As we know, working the hardest doesn’t always equate to a commitment. But I think they definitely have a strong, strong chance.”

Evans said he would probably make a public prediction sometime in the next few days. “At this point, I’m leaning toward Alabama. I would say, right now, it’s Alabama, Kentucky, Syracuse, in that order.”

New Alabama head coach Nate Oats has deep ties to Jackson’s home state. Oats’ first head coaching job was at a high school in the Detroit area — he was there for 11 years — and he made Jackson a top recruiting priority early in his tenure with the Crimson Tide.

Rivals.com ranks Jackson as the No. 23 overall player in the 2020 class.

“He’s probably one of the best defenders in all of high school basketball,” Evans said. “He’s a quick-twitch defensive guy. I always kind of roll my eyes when people say, ‘He can guard the ‘1’ through ‘5’. But he is one of the few that actually can, I think. He’s an elite shot-blocker. Great second jump. He has great length and great instincts. He moves well laterally, moves well vertically. He just has a really good feel for the game, so he brings a lot defensively.

“Offensively, you kind of wish he would’ve taken a step forward as more of a refined, polished prospect. But he’s also someone who doesn’t really play outside of his element. He plays to his strengths and knows what he is.”

With Chris Moore getting CBs to Memphis the last couple of days, looks like Arkansas might start focusing more on him as well.

Nimari Burnett CB for Texas Tech

ETA: He's a tech homer that doesn't seem too credible

I really don’t think it makes that great of an impact on the recruitment of Nimari Burnett, but it sure does not hurt Texas Tech’s cause. Sure, the best want to play with the best, which should only enhance the Red Raiders' chances with Burnett. But outside of that, the five-star will base his college decision on the style of play, skill development, having the chance to play on the ball and the comfort factor.

Down to a final four that features Alabama, Michigan, Oregon and the Red Raiders, Burnett could potentially sign before the early period completes on Nov. 19. Alabama holds my FutureCast selection, but Oregon and Texas Tech are the two that have been receiving the greatest amount of talk lately.

I placed my FutureCast selection for Keon Ambrose-Hylton last week in favor for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ambrose-Hylton has completed his official visits and is considering Nate Oats' program, along with Arkansas, Dayton, NC State and USC.

Am I 100 percent confident in my pick of the Tide for the Canadian? No, but I am sure that a commitment will be made within the coming days and that a signing will take place next week. Each finalist has a chance with Ambrose-Hylton, but I would say that Alabama is the one program slightly out in front, with NC State not too far behind.

At this point I could honestly see us signing 4 in this class. Maybe 5 if Kira intends to go pro. I just see no way Reese, Smith, and Davis are all on the roster next year. Reese can shoot, and that is the extent of their combined basketball skills. We need athletic bigs in the worst way.

Moody looking really good to announce us on Saturday. He is doing his announcement in Little Rock and opening to the public. Most believe he silently committed on his visit two weeks ago. I don't think he is the type to do all of this only to spurn us. I think he loves the state too much for that.

Not really sure about Ambrose, with Moore looking likely to Memphis, he is way more important to us now. Coaches have still been visiting him but I think we were also behind NC State (some think they won't have spot for him) and seems like Bama is ahead of us as well depending on who you listen to or read. If Arkansas doesn't secure Ambrose or Moore, it puts a lot of pressure on them to make sure they land Jaylin Williams. We really need the size.

Seems like reality may have set in a bit on how desperately we are hurting for his (potential) skillset.
