I would love to be wrong by the way and we get Watford, it's all speculative at this point. Just personally think Oats is getting in on him too late and the fact that he has a longstanding relationship with Hardaway gives them the upper hand.

On the other hand, there’s no legitimate reason for us to be in his top 5 the way things have gone down lately. Piss poor player development, bad on-court results, head coach getting canned...yet we’re still right there according to Watford. It feels like he’s really giving Bama the benefit of the doubt, which wouldn’t be the case unless at least part of him wants to play here.

LSU being in the picture so strongly before Wade was suspended worries me too. If you can read between the lines.
Why would an elite Bball player from Alabama have LSU in their top 5? They aren't a basketball powerhouse. We have a better Bball history than they do.
LSU entered the picture in November too, so it's not like Wade had achieved any success there yet.
If what I believe to be the case, is indeed the case, then that reinforces Memphis as the destination.

According to Google Maps, it’s only an 1 hour and 15 minutes away.

I don’t know anything about Watford, but the fact that we were on his top five that was announced basically during a coaching change isn’t a bad sign.
I also think it’s a fools game to try to get inside the mind of any 18 year old, but you would think LSU’s chances most likely have taken a hit.

Penny has all that aau crap on his side. Not sure how clean that is but he definitely uses it in recruiting.

Think it’s possible the football and basketball folks were sharing a flight? I know we’ve got a couple of targets out in Cali for football so it would be a good opportunity for them to hitch a ride while Oats visits Hawkins. Just speculating.

I’d have to think they’d be visiting Shackelford first. If 247 is right about his location, Hawkins is 4 hours away. I hope this is the case anyhow. Above all of the commits, I want Shackelford the most. I think that kid is going to be special and the absolute perfect player for this system.
