We know more now than we did back then, but I seriously doubt that it's worse or significantly more widespread.

That Goodman ranking has me kind of wondering if I'm missing something.
As a fan, I guess you can either homer it up or focus too much on the negatives. Or maybe just veer wildly between both extremes.
If you look at his short description:
New coach Nate Oats retained Kira Lewis and John Petty, and added West Virginia grad transfer Beetle Bolden. He also brings back Herb Jones and Tevin Mack, and it’ll likely be a big man by committee approach.
I've probably been focusing on our problems at the 5. It's sort of easy to just say "it'll likely be a big man by committee approach," but it's a problem if the committee might not be that good.
But maybe I haven't been focusing enough on the talent we actually have. And Bolden may be a bigger pickup than I've realized.
I'm not sure I'll ever talk myself into 11th best team in the country.

Didn't he get a big man recruit to commit?
Posted on 4/16/19 at 12:15 pm to imjustafatkid
Yep. And if he can play defense and rebound then it would go a long way towards us being a good team.

Southern Miss in the Battle for Atlantis makes no damn sense. I get bringing in a good mid major and all the schools on the list from previous years are decent teams. Southern Miss sucks at basketball and has sucked for years. Unless they have a historical breakout year next year, they are going to be the whipping boy in that tourney.

I may have missed it earlier in the thread, but Rojas was granted his release so we now have the 1b replacement for TW for sure.

Sorry if already discussed. Are we gonna throw our name at the Foward from Va Tech?

We definitely should. But that guy will be able to go anywhere he wants, including most of the blue bloods

He seems like a great pickup for UNC or Gonzaga. I would love to snag him though over Rojas.

You talking about Blackshear?? Yes would want...but I thought he was following Buzz to aTm?

We just hired a dude named Josh Baker from Southfield Christians High School to join the basketball staff

Here's an article about the hire: LINK

I was hoping I’d get the job, but Baker seems more qualified tbh.

Seems like a good dude. This staff is almost universally Oats guys now, which could be great for instilling what he wants in the program, but I am curious what he does in terms of loyalty if one of them has to go later on.

According to Jeff Borzello, we're still looking at other guards LINK
Not sure how high we are on his list, but here's his profile Edric Dennis
He's only 6 feet tall, so I assume Oats would view him as another ball-handler at the pg position. Which would make some sense if he feels like Bolden is more suited as a two-guard.

I have to wonder if that contact was prior to Bolden actually committing.

39.7% from three on 9.1 attempts per game... damn
That is someone I'd love to see in Crimson

If you watch his Kentucky game highlights, the kid was taking looong 3s. Unreal range. I'd love to have him on the team too
