Well this is fun.
We're not even in the NIT Bracketology
Maybe we won't have to turn down anything.
LINK
Meanwhile, Anthony Grant and Dayton will most likely be a #2 seed. Ain't life just a kick in the balls?

You also have to view those comments keeping this in mind: we fuss about FOGs but we all have a little bit of that in us, so we're used to winning. And when something big is on the line, like your tournament life, we are damn sure used to winning more often than losing on the gridiron and the expectation carries over to basketball. So with at least 3 of those home losses being at crucial times when everyone knew that it was critical to win, they choked. Blame it on whatever you want, but the result is the same and it's one we're not used to nor accept very easily. Couple that with the fact that nobody less than 30 years old has seen any sort of sustained success from Alabama basketball and it all adds up to fans, both young and old, that are frustrated as hell and tired of it. We want better, expect better, and deserve better. I guess the silver lining is at least a segment of vocal fans care enough to vent. I'd be more concerned if nobody GAF.
I think our fans should also keep in mind that this is a new start and it's not fair to judge this team on the results of past teams, even if they look similar. You can say that it's just venting and doesn't matter, but the attitude of the fans does matter. A lot of the Bama basketball stuff I see shared all over social media originates right here on this board. That's not going to help Oats sell the program. I'm not saying you have to be unrealistic, but being vocally pessimistic just perpetuates what a lot of people (and recruits) already believe - Bama can't win big in basketball.
I think Bama has a lot of basketball fans. But, most of them aren't on social media - they're old, or just casual fans that don't care that much since the program has floundered in mediocrity for so long. So, those of us that waste large portions of our life online discussing Bama basketball, have a much bigger voice than our football fans. It matters, even if only a little, how we act. I'm convinced Avery Johnson might still be our coach, if not for a lot of the people right here, and other outlets like this, being vocal about it.
Anyway, that's my soapbox spiel. I understand the caution and disappointment. I don't need sog or whoever telling me that forums are for crying. Do what you want.

Missing the NIT this year will be just fine.
Oats, if he wishes, can go ahead inform a couple Averylites your style of play is not suited for my system. Good luck. So long friend.

Reese has been playing soft as shite lately. I think we can all agree on that.

For a guy Reese's size to fire up 1 3 point brick after another vs Vandy, when they have no interior presence is the definition of a charmin softie.

I agree 100% with most of what you said. This board isn’t near as bad as most of the Bama fans on twitter. I think most of the fans that post regularly in here are knowledgable enough to know that injuries and depth are the main reason we are playing like crap lately.
Bama twitter after a Bama loss this year has been disgusting for the most part. With people tagging Oats calling him out, tagging our good players in negative crap. Recruits absolutely see all that negativity.

Saw a bunch of bad tweets after the vandy loss but this one takes the cake.
You chose to comment that on a post Oats made about his grandad dying? Come on man.

If that’s really a Bama fan, then I’d like to take him out back and kick his arse. That’s horrible

For real. Looking at his twitter it's mainly Bama related posts, who knows.
Looks like he makes equally bad tweets regarding Alabama softball.

Dude can't even write a complete sentence and probably never finished middle school.

I only saw 3 posts, but I’m not very good with twitter. First post said “hey”. Second post was barely English, talking about refs (reminded me of coonass). The third was a guy ripping up papers

please listen to me when i say that @Greg_Byrne hasn’t forgotten about coleman.
PLEASE STAY PATIENT! RENOVATIONS ARE COMING!
I know we like to say it'll be pushed off, but I feel there's a good majority of us in here that really invest into the program. Don't not donate to the Crimson Standard for the fear that it'll go to waste.

I just don't see how Auburn and Ole Miss can afford new arenas but we can't afford to have ours upgraded. You'd think our football program makes a ton of money.
Also don't see why we are spending 115 million to renovate Coleman when Auburn and Ole Miss built great new arenas for less than 100 million. Auburn spent 86 million on their new arena and Ole Miss spent 96 million.
Hopefully ours is amazing when it's done, it had better be if we spend 115 million on it as planned.

Well, where on campus would you put it? Auburn and Ole Miss didn't have to purchase any land to build theirs on, but I suspect UA would. I guess they could put it on the Bryce property, but it is my understanding that there are other plans for that. Otherwise you're talking about building on what is currently a commuter parking lot, which would of course cause all sorts of problems for off campus students as well as for fans on game days. It very well could have been cheaper to renovate Coleman than to purchase new property, demolish whatever is currently on it, and build a new arena.

Put it on the Bryce property and call it the Asylum.

Somehow, folks would get offended by that name. Even though it would be perfect.

So many factors go into costs: commodity prices, state of the general economy, etc.

Both of those arenas would cost almost double today. Every aspect of large, arena level construction has exploded since then. I remember reading a bunch of articles about it when the renovation was announced and a whole lot more back when SunTrust/Mercedes Benz were built in Atlanta.

Well I know hindsight is 20/20 and all that but why didn’t we build the fricking thing 10 years ago before building costs exploded? Everyone has been bitching about Coleman for at least that long and we keep putting lipstick on that damn pig! How much did we spend on that last big reno? Hell, we were probably halfway to a brand new arena with that money with that and what was spent on Foster. Aside from when Mal brought the football facilities up to par, we’ve been really foolish with our money.

Your local rec center gym wouldn't cost much less than that today. Prices have skyrocketed since those were built.
