Yeah Rhode Island ain’t no FAU. Suddenly this tough schedule looks pretty damn intimidating.

I love Oats. He coaches the entire game and actually gets after the players. Grant would spend a lot of time sulking and sitting down. Avery would just cheerlead.
I can't wait to see what kind of team we have when Oats can get a few more of his guys down here.

I love how JQ was the first one to run to Coach Oats. You can tell the players love Nate already

Dog me if you will, but I think JP was impaired.

I’m not even gonna lie....I have that same thought at least 1 every game.

No doubt Javian is better than Galin, but we’ll have to wait for better competition to see how good he really is. FAU is awful, which gives teams who play them a chance to look better than they really are.
Remember John Petty vs Alabama A&M? Hits ten 3s, but once the competition got more stiff, he’s had maybe 4 good games since then.

Is NBCS something that has to be included with your cable package?
Posted on 11/12/19 at 8:07 am to Teague
I thought NBCSN is a channel everyone with a basic package has.

I don't know. I have internet through WOW, but I use Sling and a Roku for sports.

Wimp - sometimes his analysis isn’t horrible, but his love for Reese and hate for Petty is so obvious every time.
Hawkins - kind of thought they’d redshirt him, but I guess with Rojas going down, they had no choice

Sling orange or blue? You have to have the blue to get NBCSN. Pretty much explains why you pay about $50.00/month to get the sports you want.

I think I just have orange + the sports package, if I'm remembering correctly.

Back when I had it, orange and the sport's tier package would give the ESPN and SEC Network. Not Fox 1 or NBCSN. But these IPTV packages come and go. Blue and organge were 40 bucks and then the 10.00 sports tier got you what you needed. $50 buck is what it cost to do business with Sling.
I think YouTube TV has them beat only because, unlike Sling orange, they give all the sports channels on multiple TVs. But, not everybody wants or needs that.

One thing I love about this team is they absolutely get after it on the boards. Small sample size, obviously, but this may turn out to be the best rebounding team we've had in years (other than the Bola year, which was an aberration, imo).

I’ve done Sling, Hulu, and YouTube, and YouTube TV is easily the best. Sling is/was the cheapest if all you’re looking for is watching Alabama basketball games for the most part. I’ve had Sling TV for the past 5 years, so I can watch the Basketball games. Haven’t had an issue getting the basketball games, but they’ve gone up in price for both the Orange and Sports package to make it only a few bucks difference from the others. Switched to Hulu and then YouTube this year so I could get the local channels for football and the Atlanta Hawks. Hulu’s interface is whack, has no guide to access while streaming, AND has mandatory commercials for recordings (unless you pay a ridiculous 10 bucks a month to get rid of it). YouTube TV makes me wonder why anyone still pays for cable. Extremely quick loading screens, zero buffering, and only a 15 second delay (Sling’s is over 60 seconds).

Now, Quinnerly will play as a 24-year old, redshirt senior. For what purpose? The NCAA’s transfer policy is an unholy, unjustifiable mess. If Quinnerly played softball or all but five other sports, he could transfer at semester and be immediately eligible.
Jay Bilas weighs in.

My only hangup about not granting all transfers immediate eligibility is just that there are plenty of coaches out there for whom recruiting would never stop. Guys they really liked coming out of high school get stuck playing backup minutes as a freshman and they're sending text messages about how there's plenty of playing time still available for them if they just want to come over to the other program. That being said, if the NCAA is going to hand out waivers to 85-90% of the kids who request them what exactly is the purpose of having a requirement that transfers sit out a year? At this point they're basically just picking and choosing a handful of kids to frick over for completely arbitrary reasons given how vague their "criteria", if you can even justify calling it that, for granting waivers is.

I know it hasn't been a great week for Alabama basketball/sports, but Javian's possible emergence is an intriguing thing.
All of a sudden, a crunch time 5 of Javian, Herb, Petty, Bolden/Shackleford, and Kira is sort of interesting.
I can already anticipate the Petty comments, but I think he'd be hard pressed to be as bad as he was last night, and we could probably use his size considering we're already running a small lineup out there.

Javian reminds me of the type big men that used to be a fixtures on Alabama rosters.
Big man that eventually develops into borderline All-SEC player because he becomes a smooth offensive threat and generally plays smart basketball at both ends.
That said, I also think he fits that mold because his athletic ability doesn't really jumps out and he's going to have his struggles this year adjusting to bigger and better shot blockers that what FAU had.
In a perfect world, Smith would be the guy that's already developed a bit more and Javian would have a year to play behind him and adjust to SEC caliber defenders.
Also, I completely agree with you about Petty. I'm not expecting him to be consistent but last night will likely be still be the worst game he'll have this year. Petty's certainly enigmatic because I would suggest that both last season and this he's been among the best "effort" players we have (often the real leader in terms hustle) but just makes a lot of bad basketball decisions to go with his very streaky shooting.
