It’s amazing that we hit 90 again and didn’t even notice

I would not be surprised either way, but I think he stays. I'm not sure there is anyone out there to replace him with that makes sense. Ellis is the only JUCO kid we have been tied to, and replacing a freshman with a grad transfer isn't a good idea.

Jmo , but I think Forbes will be back. He is getting PT and will get better. Be unusual to give up on him after one year

I’m operating under the assumption that the tournament is a big long shot - I just want to see continued improvement, hard work, etc.

That being said (there’s always a that being said), there’s no completely terrifying team in the SEC tournament. If we need two wins, the only team I’d prefer to avoid is Kentucky. We’ve obviously done pretty well against Auburn and (maybe to a lesser extent) LSU.

And now I will return to no longer thinking about the tournament.

Also now that we’re to some extent already thinking about next year, I am very excited to see a healthy, super experienced Herb Jones. I think he could really put it all together and have a big season.

We lose Beetle for sure, 90% sure Kira goes pro, 50/50 on if Petty stays or tries to go pro. I think Galin grad transfers somewhere. Then we have Ambrose signed and will add either two or three more players depending on if Petty stays or goes. If Petty stays we probably add one more guard and one more F/C type. If he leaves we probably add two guards and a F/C type.

Beetle is gone, and if we lose Kira too, we literally have 1 PG/ball handler next season. That isn’t going to work.

Our big men stink this season, and none of them really match the style Oats wants to play.

Hawkins, Galin, Rojas, Davis, Reese...there’s no way on Gods green Earth Oats keeps that many bigs on the roster, especially when they don’t match his coaching style, and most are horrendous.

Here’s what I see...

Javian & Rojas stay.

Out of Reese, Galin, Hawkins, 2 of them are gone.

Nate gets a grad transfer PG similar to Bolden for next season to take Boldens spot. Ambrose-Hylton takes Kira’s spot. Joshua Primo takes Galins spot. Some kind of transfer that can shoot-dribble-drive takes Hawkins spot.

2021

PG: Jahvon Quinerly/Transfer PG/Transfer Combo Guard
SG: Jaden Shackelford/Joshua Primo/Jaylen Forbes
SF: John Petty/Juwan Gary
PF: Herb Jones/Keon Ambrose-Hylton
C: Javian Davis/James Rojas/Alex Reese

Kira has made 25 of his last 49 3pt attempts. He is on fire. He has also gotten a lot better at making the correct reads

Petty and lewis are both gone. That opens up two spaces.

If any of the bigs leave, it will be hawkins.

We need a big and a pg desperately.

Were we last in the league in the early signing period?

Kira is gone. I think Petty declares without an agent and ultimately decides to come back

Kira will be back. He'll want to win a nc. Him and Petty back, with the two Canadians added and maybe a decent big to replace Galin Smith----that's a final four team.

Anything can happen in March, but come on dude. That still isn't a Final Four roster. "Just grab a decent big" doesn't address the serious issues we have with front court defense and rebounding. One decent grad transfer isn't solving those problems. It'll take a couple of good recruiting classes and subsequent player development.

If Kira comes back it will be because he still can’t really guard anybody. Not trashing him - it just is what it is. He can’t really guard Cousinard from South Carolina much less NBA guards. He’s been elite offensively, but he may be a Trae Young level defender in the NBA for a few years, so he has to be really good offensively to get minutes.

But it’s a weak draft, and he has been awesome lately on offense. So my hopes of keeping him are rapidly decreasing.

Agree Crede - he's still a pretty below average defender.

If I was still invested I would say that if this years team can get into the dance we could make the Sweet 16....... But fortunately I’m not.
