Arkansas and Tennessee are season defining games. We pretty much have to win both.

100%, would be really hard to make the tourney if we lose either of those.

I assume we will be favored by at least 4 vs Arky and probably 8.5 Vs Tenn so hopefully we take care of business. I think we will.

In hindsight, he probably wasn’t the best fit. West Va and Huggins are mostly a half court team. It’s probably been a big transition to this style for him.

Alabama vs Arkansas : Tale of the Tape

Takeaways
- if we get beat on the offensive glass on Saturday then our issues have become an epidemic, because Arkansas is small and is the 10th worst offensive rebounding team in the country
- Don't expect many Arkansas turnovers --- they don't give it away and we don't take it away
- Both teams play very short benches and appear to be wearing down a bit as of late
- Arkansas has the #1 3PT% defense in the country - obviously a big matchup
- Arkansas causes a bunch of turnovers on defense.........we love turning it over

My guess is this one comes down to if we can make outside shots and how often we turn the ball over

I would agree that in a vacuum, this loss by itself isn’t that bad. It was basically just one bad 10 minute run to end the 1st half and that stuff happens on the road against good teams sometimes. Same thing we did at home against Auburn and Miss St.

The more concerning part is this game isn’t in a vacuum. It follows Vanderbilt and K-State games where we looked pretty damn sloppy and just happen to come away with victories. Our play has been trending down for 3 games, not just 1.

And as for the Petty not practicing hard enough deal, I understand that Oats wants us to play relentless murderball for 40 minutes every night, and likewise expects us to practice like that every day. But does anyone else think these last 3 games looks like a team that is TIRED AS F^*% and that’s why we are so sloppy?

We have a 9 man rotation thanks to injuries and the NCAA, and last night it was only 8 thanks to Bolden’s illness. Kira, Petty, Herb all playing 30+ minutes every night.

Maybe Petty is right, Coach. Maybe we could use a little rest. Does no good to practice like your life depends on it if the tank is empty for the actual games.

Sounds like a game where we should take it to the hole to finish. If only we had a low post presence for easy flushes...

Over our last 6 games (since Kentucky) we are 48/156 (31%) from 3 PT.

Welp a ton of bubble teams lost last night so we’ll probably more or less stay put

Need Richmond and Furman to keep winning. We desperately need to those two to stay top 100.

I haven't read the whole thread from last night, what did Petty do to sit?

Oats said he wasn't practicing up to the standard

What an interesting season in the SEC as no teams in the conference currently rank inside the top 30 in KenPom. But seven rank within 15 spots of each other: LSU (30), Kentucky (32), Arkansas (35), Auburn (36), Miss St (38), Florida (40), and Alabama (45).

4 games. We didn't play all that well against Mizzou either. Mizzou playing one of their worst games of the season helped the game look better for us than it actually was.

Bus as I said several pages ago, almost all teams go through some lulls in the season. It's the nature of the sport, especially once you get into league play. The 4 game trend is concerning though, no doubt. The effort is there at least, both from the players and coaches. As well as we shot the 3 leading up to SEC play, you have to think we'll start shooting better at some point.

We won’t start shooting better with dead legs. If they have indeed hit the wall, the shots won’t start magically falling.

Yep, we'll see. I think Oats sees all the same things we do - I'm guessing he's racking his brain to figure out how to get around these issues.

Jaylen Forbes has gotta start hitting open Shots. He was recruited for his sharp shooting bout time he starts making a few.

I'm not counting on it. It's not even like he's just been getting unlucky, his shots aren't even close.
