The thing that makes it difficult is knowing we could be so much better than we are if we slow things down to a normal pace. But that’s not what we hired Oats to do and for future purposes we should hope he continues to force the ridiculously up-tempo pace.
I kind of disagree with this. I think if we dialed it down from a 10 to an 8 they'd still be learning to play fast while not giving up countless possessions every game by playing completely out of control. You have to crawl before you can walk. I was just expecting to be top ~100 or so in pace this first year and we are top 5. His teams at Buffalo never played quite as fast as we have been this year even when they had upperclassman heavy rosters the last two years.

We have gotten the “play fast “ part down pat. We just haven’t gotten to the “play smart while playing fast “ stage yet

Kira played as poorly as I've ever seen him play yesterday

Another thing that makes it difficult is knowing we have a lot of pieces that could thrive in his system, but aren’t because they aren’t used to playing at this pace and using actual plays.
I can't wait to watch a team of guys who can run the floor, handling the ball, and shoot proficiently, while playing solid defense.

Yea he can sell that to recruits too. “We need you to play the style I want” can only help in recruiting . Plus you don’t have to have top flight talent either ( sure it’s better if you do) to have good shooters and versatile players

I know that I'm in the minority, but I've never liked this tournament in the Bahamas.

Is it still played on some awkward ballroom court?

I loved it and now I hate it

Yes. You can see the carpet at end if floor . Think Reese had to walk through lobby to get to locker room
Posted on 11/29/19 at 6:52 pm to GenesChin
Yea, it's a strange setup
Posted on 11/29/19 at 6:52 pm to GenesChin
I think it’s played inside a Casino. For some reason all casinos decide to have the ugliest carpet

Even he’s said that he’s had to tell them to slow down at times because they were out of control. I think the crazy pace we’re playing at is a product of us not knowing how to play fast AND smart. Our seemingly almost instantaneous turnovers certainly skew our tempo numbers as well. I’m not saying we can’t slow down. I’m saying we shouldn’t go away from what Nate Oats wants to do, which is play fast.
We’ve had 2 coaches back-to-back tell us they want to play faster, and neither wanted to go through the growing pains of doing so. I can remember points in both their tenures where they had a few games where they played faster (emphasis on fastER) and the result wasn’t great so they reverted back to slowing things down. I’ve accepted this year as a mulligan for the Oats tenure and establishing his offense and familiarizing the players with it should be a priority IMO.

Yea, just keep playing fast. I don't believe this team has the ability to win at a slower pace either. Just play fast and let the chips fall wherever.

If we don’t, we may not beat anyone. This is one of our easiest remaining games
