It’s a fair discussion.

I could buy that if Jalen had struggled and the offense didn't put up points or if Ty looked head and shoulders better when he played but neither of those things happened. Plus many of these guys pushing for Ty present their opinions as objective fact when in reality it is nothing more than their opinion.

This doesn’t explain why Tyler fricking Buchner started over Simpson

Had to be some weird promise Rees made to Buchner when he came down from ND.

Rees is one of the worst hires Saban ever made, IMO.

Threads like this give bama fans a bad name. Really should be locked and/or deleted. I'm all about discussing and opinions, but this just screams click bait... Designed to stir up people. Well, you gotv what you wanted. Really hope you can see yourself out.

Eat a sack lunch off my taint. You’re on a message board, and this thread is 5 pages deep of (mostly) good discussion. If differing opinions make you uncomfortable, go to TideFans or BamaOnLine.

I personally think Milroe is starting for similar reasons and had he transferred, our acute post Saban talent hemorrhage would've worsened. For locker room political reasons, Jalen Milroe is our starter.

I think this is probably spot on. I don’t think anyone would argue against the idea that a Milroe transfer would have produced a much larger exodus of players.

For that reason alone, I think it’s a fair argument to suggest the reason he’s starting goes much deeper than his ability to play QB. Being QB1 has always been about more than talent alone.

That’s the thing Jalen has already beaten Georgia, with a lesser offensive coordinator.

I think the group really had a strong connection with Ty. The LANK stuff I think were bigger with the guys who were headed to the league. Ty is a leader on campus and a coaches kid, him leaving would have been catastrophic.

You are way off. Blake was 5x the quarterback Coker was. We were a run dominant team with a great defense with Coker.

I think we have 4 quality quarterbacks that we can win big with. I trust the coaches that watch practice everyday to play the one they think is the best.

We better hope Ty Simpson isn't the QB when we are on the field with Georgia.

I think we could beat UGA with Lonergan, Simpson, or Milroe. Just my opinion

I quit BOL because the trolls there would attack me for saying exactly what you said. It’s almost like some of them are getting a cut of the Milroe NIL money to carry his water.

I agree, but I don't think they give us the best chance.

Man this is just so wrong. You are a great poster defending Alabama against the LSU dickheads but think you are off base here.

Okay here's a breakdown of the two QBs

Jalen: Not a good processor or operator. Okay passer. Phenomenal runner, confident, and a leader.

Ty: Good passer, smooth operator. Very little confidence, maybe a leader if put in that position.

Here's the problem: It's obvious to anyone that Ty Simpson is smarter, and a more natural passer. But he also lacks confidence and poise. He has running ability, but not enough to strike fear into opponents.

The thing about Milroe is that he's playing with confidence, he was voted as team captain, and his running ability is a legitimate weapon. Even when not passing, he's always a dangerous offensive weapon.

Case in point: Ty Simpson getting smacked last night and throwing up a lame duck INT. That was a terrible play. Jalen doesn't make plays like that at this point.

Does Ty Simpson have a higher ceiling? Possibly. But that's a huge gamble, and it might take the length of the season for him to come into his own.
We already have Milroe who, all things considered, is probably a bit better right now - not to mention a team leader.

I think people see Milroe's glaring weaknesses, and want to believe we have someone better, but we just don't. We don't have a Tagovailoa sitting on the bench. We have Ty Simpson, who in all likelihood will get beat out by Keelon Russell next year.

Two things I believe. Diversify with Gold and Crypto and never be bullied off a QB take especially on a message board.

Still think it is Mack, Russell, Lonergan next year though

This assessment is so wrong concerning Simpson.
