Jeudy, Smith and Ruggs were all average their freshmen year. Hall and Brooks will take a big step next season.

Hall struggled too! You need speed and we got a ton but we don't know how to use it properly.

Not true whatsoever. In no game whatsoever did I see those guys drop the passes I've seen dropped in this game at any point in their freshman year.

I would've liked to see what Leary and Jojo could've done. We were playing with all possession receivers after Jameson went down.

Jeudy had 14 receptions for 264 and 2 TDs. Smitty had 8 receptions for 160 and 3 TDs. Ruggs looked like he’d be the best with 12 receptions for 229 yards and 6 TDs.

They didn’t put up Julio, Amari, Ridley or Waddle type freshmen numbers. They were average.

These freshmen definitely played below average, but when you’ve got a Williams and Metchie that’s going to be tough to get as many opportunities. I still think they take a step and get better next year.

I see what you're saying but you could see the ability those guys had. Earle I don't think can really play at this level. Brooks looks solid but not great. And can't say much about hall. This was a tough spot for his first significant time

I agree. Hall isn't even fast.

We need one big transfer and hopefully these new kids (Anderson, Bond, Shazam and Kobe) pan out

The Jeudy, etc, take is wrong... one of them would have had at least one catch tonight to change the game.

We had no response.

I'm going more off the effort and play than what their numbers were. It didn't matter how many passes were thrown those guys way they produced and these guys we have now have nearly the same accolades coming out of high school as jeudy and them so they should be comparable. However, in their worst game they didn't play like these guys tonight, I've never seen that many dropped passes by a collection of highly ranked receivers in my lifetime

After watching Hall up close now - I understand why he is behind the others.

Brooks is the best young guy Bama has.

Jerry Jeudy was a stud from day one. I remember countless times Jeudy would be open but Jalen couldn't and sometimes wouldn't pass him the ball because he wasn't confident in his abilities. Some of y'all are forgetting how much of a liability Jalen Hurts was for our offense considering the talent he was playing with.

Hey I agree with you, those guys were light years better. I’m just trying to point out that they improved significantly from year 1 to year 2.

They weren't average at all. In 2017 we regularly rotated in 6 WR's and not because guys HAD to play due to injuries, like we saw this year. Those 3 guys earned playing time. They also showed flashes of being really good WR's and most of us knew they'd be studs throughout the remainder of their careers. Heck, the majority of us knew that they'd be a better starting crew in 2018 than Ridley, Foster, and Sims were in 2017.

If Metchie goes they need to bring in at least 1 stud veteran. Nearly ever WR on the team next year will be a 1st or 2nd year player, as my guess is 2 of the older guys will transfer out.

They also need to hit the portal for a stud OT, should one come available. The fact that 5*'s Brockermeyer and Latham couldn't beat out Chris Owens is scary.

With the injuries to Metchie and JW, do they come back?

I think Latham will be fine, but Brockermeyer is concerning.

No chance for a few months that JW would come back. I was holding out hope for Metchie as he's a late 1st/early 2nd guy similar to DeVonta after the 2019 season, but I think he's gone after seeing another injury take place that could impact draft position. I doubt he'll risk another season where he could get injured without an NFL pay check.
