Source: Ole Miss' Allen Flanigan has received a waiver from the SEC and is eligible to play during the 2023-24 season.

The SEC requires certain criteria for transfers within the conference.

Transfer from Auburn who averaged 10.1 PPG and 5 RPG last season.

Richardson is a great player so I’m not gonna be too sad missing on Boogie if we get him.

Richardson would be a huge get. He plays a bit like Sears but in a bigger, more athletic body.

What does this mean?

It means he was crying because his feces was going back up his butt instead of out.

I thought Stevenson would be the starter mid-season

Once he gets his defecation problem under control, he should be good to go. The doctors caught it early, so he probably won't miss much time.

2024 4* Amier Ali will take an official visit to Arizona State beginning October 20th, a source tells me.

Ali is a versatile, two-way wing who can guard multiple positions defensively. Can get to the rack or knockdown shots from the perimeter on the other end.

He is also considering Kentucky, Alabama, Kansas and Arkansas. #46 in the ESPN100.

Top40 recruit Jase Richardson recaps visits, could be nearing a decision

Jase Richardson, the No. 34 overall recruit in the country, has completed three official visits and says he is in talks of setting a commitment day.

Jase Richardson, the No. 34 overall recruit in the country, has completed three official visits and says he is in talks of setting a commitment day.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard out of Miami (Fla.) Columbus caught up with 247Sports to recap his officials and the next steps before coming to an ultimate decision.

So far, Richardson has been to Cincinnati, Michigan State and Alabama with the Bearcats receiving the latest visit.

With Cincinnati being the most recent, he shared his thoughts about his time on campus, their pitch and his favorite experience with the Bearcats.

"I really enjoyed the visit," he said. "I went to Cincinnati and just being around the coaching staff, the team, the fans and just the atmosphere I was glad to see. I have been trying to schedule this visit since my sophomore year so I was glad to see it."

What was his favorite part of the Cincinnati visit?

"Probably just getting to connect with the whole coaching staff and talking to them about what my role would be if I were to go there," he answered.

Wes Miller is continuing to get into heavyweight recruiting battles at Cincinnati and envisions Richardson coming in and making an immediate impact, if he were to get him.

"That I can really come in and make an impact for the team and be one of their main ball-handlers in the backcourt," Richardson said of Cincinnati's pitch.

After discussing his Cincinnati visit, Richardson reflected back on his time with Alabama and Michigan State.

Alabama: "What really stands out to me is the fan atmosphere and being with the team as well. The fan atmosphere going to a football game they are really invested in Alabama sports and just getting perspective from the team on game days and how rowdy the fans are and how energetic the crowd is during the games."

Michigan State: "It was really good to connect with Jesse McCulloch, one of their commits, being able to be on campus with him and get his perspective about why he went there and talking to him and connecting with the team as well. I love coach [Tom] Izzo. We connect on many great levels and him always telling me stories of coaching my dad and stuff my dad used to do on campus. His pitch is that if they were to get me that we could really do something special with the backcourt of Jeremy Fears and some of the other guys they are planning to get in the 2024 class."

As of now, Richardson doesn't have any other visits scheduled but has two other programs in consistent contact.

"Arkansas has been contacting me every day and Florida has been reaching out as well," he said. "I might potentially take a visit to Florida but I don't know yet."

The four-star guard shared his thoughts on the other two SEC programs in pursuit with 247Sports.

Arkansas: "I feel like Arkansas does a great job of developing freshman guards watching Nick Smith Jr. and Anthony Black play this year, be one-and-done and become first round picks was incredible to watch."

Florida: "Growing up that was my dream school so they always stuck out to me and just being able to be recruited by them is a blessing. As a kid, I used to carry around this basketball preseason college book and I always loved Billy Donovan as a coach and he was there at the time they were winning National Championships so me when I was four years old, Florida was my dream school."

While he thinks about taking one more visit to Florida, he is in discussions with his family regarding a commitment date.

"I am just sitting down and talking with my family and trying to figure out a date to eventually commit," he said as to his next steps.

Just that Wrightsell and Walters have looked better in summer and fall practices than we may have expected. Nobody projects them as starters or for getting many minutes, but from reports of coaches speaking to groups, one I have attended, they can contribute. I had heard that there would be a Yea Alabama and/or a Tide Pride open scrimmage, like Arkansas's recent Red/ White scrimmage, but I have not received info on those, so maybe we all have to wait for Nov 6 to see any of these players in action.

I figure Wrightsell was going to be in the rotation. Why would an upperclassman transfer here otherwise? Is he not expected to get 10-15mpg?

I think he will be key to us making a deep run in March.

Big shot taker and a big shot maker who's ready to prove he belongs with the big boys.

Deep range shooter who can create his own shot if need be. Wrightsell will get 15 minutes easily.

Yes. We all have to see them to have a good opinion, but I would think that Wrightsell is definitely in the rotation.

With Reid and Newell taking their officials to UGA, time to cheer for the Kentucky upset. That town isn't very friendly after they lose. I know, i was there for the 08 blackout game.

What’s up, fellas? The temp is cooling off and Pio is heating up… that can only mean basketball season isn’t far away. I’ll be honest, I’ve been covered up at work as well as joke and haven’t followed the off-season closely at all for the first time since Oates’ y
arrival.

Obviously a lot of new faces. Staff and personnel. Signs pointing to next years class being a star-studded affair. But, this season is the one I’m interested in… all the turnover, how do we react without Hodgson and Pettaway, do the new guys gel early without a Shmmer Tour? How does the new roster fill the holes left by Miller, Clowney, Bediako, and Co.?

The metrics seem to like us, a lot. Not sure what to make of that yet. Any particular reason for the lofty expectations? Besides year 1, this seems like Oates biggest test to date at the Capstone.

Looking forward to the season with unabashed excitement! Just trying to catch up a little without reading all 1000 pages. If that’s lazy, so be it. But any genuine insight into this year’s squad would be much appreciated. Come opening tip, I’ll be back at peak “GTFO my court” form.

Appreciated in advance.

We could be anywhere from #5-#50. Tons of unknowns, a lot of hope the 3 hits from last year take their next step in development, and hope that transfers live up to their hype. Preseason #20-25 feels like a good starting point, with room to grow.

As far as recruiting goes, we're in uncharted territory for us. No less than 1/3 of the top 40 recruits are taking official visits to Tuscaloosa. Ryan Pannone seems like our X and Os guru. Seems like a straight up film junkie. And Preston Murphy seems to known almost everybody. He hasn't skipped a beat after Hodgson left.

When I got bored and fed up with football recruiting, i figured I'd only check things around signing day. But damn Oats now has me checking in recruits official visits on a Monday morning.

This guy has done a fantastic job of counting down to the start of basketball season. He normally highlights a player who wore the number that reflects the days left in the countdown. Today was a little different (and always gets me. right. there.)
quote:

Michael Southern@msouthern17
On Jan. 28, 1983, the Alabama basketball team traveled to Pauley Pavilion and upset No. 1-ranked UCLA 70-67 behind 23 points from Bobby Lee Hurt and 20 from Ennis Whatley. For a grieving Alabama nation still reeling from the death of Paul “Bear” Bryant two days earlier, @wimpsanderson1 and the basketball team provided a much-needed athletic rallying point and an emotional release with the stunning road victory. The players wore black patches on their shoulders in honor of Coach Bryant as his funeral services had concluded earlier on that somber Friday afternoon. So in memory of the galvanizing upset on Jan. 28, 1983, the 1982-83 team is here to remind you the 2023-24 basketball season tips off in 28 days.
