Honestly, I have no idea and don't even know if it is 100% accurate - I just saw it on Twitter and decided to post it here. Been a slow couple of days.

What’s the criteria for measuring the wealth?

Assuming they are estimating what each program would sell for on the open market in a world where these are franchises instead of college teams, they're looking at stuff like assets, revenues, expenses, debts, etc. to come up with how much money you can expect the business to bring in over X period of time and then divide that by a capitalization factor to come up with an overall value number. I don't understand it because I'm not an accountant, but that's the general process they use.

Honestly though, a new building probably wouldn't enhance the perceived "value" of the team. Because schools aren't businesses, the real estate (arena) isn't owned by the team. I'd imagine that part of why UK and Louisville are so far ahead of everyone else is that Rupp and the Yum Center aren't actually owned by the universities. It's a lot easier to assign a lease than sell off a massive, expensive piece of real estate.

All those numbers seem really, really low to me though. I think that may actually just be annual revenue from ticket sales, merchandise, ads, TV contracts, etc.

This makes the most sense. I can remember a few years ago seeing our revenue net at about $15 million a year, and no doubt we are selling more tickets etc. under Oats. I'm not sure how a new arena would affect that income since it will have fewer seats to sell but at a higher price. Now if someone filters in NIL payments to players, does that count as expenses or increased revenue to fund players?

Jet landed outside Napa last night. Assuming this is a Prolific Prep visit (Sherrell/Reid/Diallo/Dybantsa/Stokes). Wait for someone else to confirm later today.

Sure this mostly pertains to football but wouldn’t be surprised if the top basketball recruits are also like this. I don’t see how this is sustainable

It isn't. It never has been. There's a reason pro sports leagues are exempt from anti-trust laws and have the power to essentially force athletes to play for a certain team via the draft process. Without salary restrictions and competitive balance measures in place the NIL situation will continue to become increasingly ridiculous every year.

I would be thrilled if I could convince a company to pay me $5k just to give them the opportunity to roll out the red carpet and try to convince me that I want to work there.

These western schools...

NCAA has to do something useful and ban western schools from scheduling way too late - the Pac-2 and the MW are fricking shitting us

If it’s 10 CT, I’m pretty sure it’s 9 Arizona time?

I know others have said it, but basketball can’t get here soon enough. The camp footage was inspiring and hoping these guys gel like 2021 and 2023. If we compete for an SEC championship and a top 4 seed, 2022 will feel like a distant memory.
