That's pretty much my take on it too. If it weren't for the timing, which leaves us with only grad transfers as replacement options, I wouldn't have any hard feelings at all. I've defended him for 4 years, and anyone we get is probably going to be a downgrade as far as potential big games, but I'll take a steady contributor vs the boom or bust, I guess.

He's such a complete douchebag, I hope it's not him. Him being such a gigantic douche is the only reason I know his name.

I wasn't aware of that. What did he do to be a douchebag?

He’s white, physical, and plays to the crowd. Those 3 combined automatically make you a huge douche unless that player is on your team

Smart move on his part and I wish him well. Based on the reports we're getting on some of the new guys in practice, I think he realized that his PT was going to drop and along with it his exposure and personal NIL opportunity. He has one last chance at more money and to build as much of a following as he can. Under the circumstances, I think any thinking person would have done the same. On the bright side for us, if diminished PT was a significant factor that wasn't a concern a few weeks ago, it speaks well for this year's team.

Problem is Mulchahy is 3 year starter and played over 30 minutes a game the last two years. Does he want to come to a situation where he might not start and we already have three guards expecting to play major minutes? Would the kid from WVU? Probably more likely, I think he only played around 20 minutes a game last year.
What helped us pull Nelson and Stevenson-an empty spot, the most minutes-works against us in trying to pull a guard.

Except it's Rutgers fans saying it, and that was before he transferred. Here's him intentionally tripping one of Indiana's star players
Think Marshall Henderson without the redeeming Auburn gif.

Is Larry Bird to blame? Or is it Christian Laettner? I feel like Laettner was more universally hated

Everyone loved Bird (except maybe Magic). Though I'm only 40, so the consensus opinion might've changed by the time I started paying attention to the NBA.
Lattner was hated extra because he played at Duke. He also kinda looked like an 80s movie villain. Even though he was from a blue collar family, people assumed he was a silver spoon prick.
Grayson Allen now... maybe he was just an a-hole. Definitely plays dirty as hell.

Laettner for sure. The fact that he also went to Duke, the physical manifestation of preppy elitism in major college athletics, just made people despise him. He developed a, largely undeserved, reputation as this cartoonishly evil teen movie villain who terrorized the scrappy group of middle class kids whose homes were going to be torn down by his real estate developer father. That trope has subsequently stuck to any white, American basketball player who is willing to commit a hard foul and trash talk.

Honest to God couldn’t tell you the last time we had a “coach on the court: first one on, last one off” type

I think it's a matter of he was so sure he was going to the draft he may have neglected some class work at the end of the year and had to make some stuff up.

Maybe Isurehehopehe is a North Dakota tribe that he's gonna consult with. Hopefully the spirits favor the bald mammoths.

If I was JQ and 25, still in college, with a million dollars in the bank I would probably be choosing Miami. I would also probably get arrested within a week or two.
