Alabama basketball's conference opponents for 2023-24 announced
The Southeastern Conference on Monday announced each school’s conference opponents for the 2023-24 basketball season, and Alabama learned which teams it will face in league play.
The Crimson Tide will welcome the following schools to Coleman Coliseum: Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Alabama will also travel to take on Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Conference play tips off on Jan. 6 and runs through March 9. Each SEC team plays the other 13 teams at least once during league play. They will then play their three permanent opponents a second time with the remaining two games changing every year. The SEC Tournament returns to Nashville, Tenn., as Bridgestone Arena will host the event from March 13-17, 2024.
Times, dates and television information will be announced at a later date.
In addition to the 18 conference games, Alabama is set to face another tough non-conference schedule. The Tide will host Indiana State, South Alabama and Mercer at home, travel to take on Creighton, face Arizona in Phoenix, play Purdue in Toronto and match up with Ohio State in the Emerald Coast Classic, with a second game against either Oregon or Santa Clara.

Gurley stepped up huge
Just as an example, in the 4OT game against UNC, in the second half of regulation:
8:48 Noah Gurley Three Point Jumper 66-61
4:57 Noah Gurley Three Point Jumper 71-71
3:26 (Noah Gurley Offensive Rebound) 75-71
3:18 Mark Sears Three Point Jumper 75-74
1:53 Noah Gurley Free Throw 75-75
1:53 Noah Gurley Free Throw 75-76
0:33 Caleb Love missed Three Point Jumper
0:33 (Noah Gurley Defensive Rebound) 77-77
He finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.
Love guys like that who make the most of it when their number is called.

and I think it's quite lame how many Bama fans are kissing his backside after he left the way he did.
It's not so much kissing his arse, as it's empathizing and not being that mad about it.
Especially since it seems like we haven't had trouble getting interest from replacements. It's been less than 24 hours, and we already have rumors link is with good players.

I think y’all just have to accept that it’s what college basketball is now. We will have a totally different team this year than last. And probably every year moving forward. You can probably expect several from this year’s freshman class to leave after the season because of roles, minutes, etc. And Oats will replace them with good players from the portal. Seems to be the nature of the beast moving forward

Trilly posted that who do you think hes talking about?

I also am glad that while we spent passing out the biggest bags, we aren't what we were scared of, and do have bags for basketball. Otherwise your can guarantee we'd be Georgia almost immediately.
And sometimes, the bag someone wants isn't worth it. The current system is a nightmare. But at least Oats seems to be dealing with it better than most. Especially since we don't have Kansas or Duke cash to toss around (just using them as examples of basketball Bluebloods without a competitive football program).

Correct. He did good things for us. We'll be fine. Hope he gets what he's looking for.

Yep. That's the only one who makes sense. Maybe he can bring Jesse Edwards with him.

"Seems to be the nature of the beast moving forward"
Good post. And JQ stayed 4 years, which is more than most anybody these days.

Dunno but Trilly posted that and 5 minutes later it was reported wed reached out to Toussaint.

I saw that. We have reached out to Mulcahy too. I would be happy with either one as out backup pg.

Mulcahy would be a great add. Love the idea of having a long pass first PG who is high energy, a leader and shoots 35%+ from 3.
Also, like Toussaint, comes from a program where they ingrain toughness.

Agreed, I wouldn't complain about adding either one.

Yeah either one would be a homerun considering the options and how late it is.

I love college athletics, but am I supposed to kiss JQs arse for leaving when he got plenty of PT here?
Complimenting what he did for us in the past isn't an issue. You can be annoyed by the timing of the decision but still appreciate the positive moments he had at Alabama.
quote:
He gets plenty of opportunities to show what he’s got for the NBA.
Facts is that he isn’t going to make it in the NBA and he knows it. He’s getting what’s best for HIM which is go somewhere where he can pretend he’s a superstar and make more money.
He knows he's not a future NBA player, the dude is going to be 25 before the end of the year and he's an undersized Guard who plays average defense at the collegiate level and hasn't become an elite shooter.
He doesn't want a back up role so he's going to collect one more bag and play as much as he can. I don't fault him for doing this but I really dislike the timing and hate the idea of tampering happening even though we all know it's constantly happening.
quote:
He couldn’t compete here. He’s copping out for more money for himself. Cool, I don’t give a frick about him anymore because he’s not an Alabama player.
He doesn’t give a frick about us or he’d still be in crimson and white.
My viewpoint on him has tarnished a bit but he was a part of multiple conference championship teams and had some great moments in big games. I probably won't be rooting for him much either but it is part of today's game.
