We just need Nelson to cancel Arkansas trip.

The CBB Roundup Twitter account who called the Baylor visit being cancelled, essentially confirmed that NIL was the reason Arkansas came back into the race. Just hoping that Nelson is focused more on the big picture.

We need to drop whatever bag we have to drop and get him to commit. If he goes to Fayetteville they are getting him. He wouldn't even be visiting them if not for the money.

This one would sting. There is no question that we're the better fit and that NIL is the only reason we would lose out on him. Would hurt even more so knowing that Holland spurning Arkansas is the only reason we didn't land him.
Losing this one would be the most hurt I've been since UK swept in at the last minute to steal Cauley-Stein because they struck out on their other targets. Pissed me off so much watching him in a UK jersey and every other game the commentator would mention how Cal never saw him play basketball and just one football game before landing him. As if that was somehow praise-worthy talent evaluation and not a last ditch effort to find a top 50 big.

I think he'll take both visits, with the bags Arky is throwing around Id go and at least see what they offer. I hope he gives us a chance to match or exceed whatever they offer him.

It's possible Grant Nelson will visit Arkansas and I honestly think we get him regardless of what they offer.
My reasoning behind this is...there's nobody in front of Nelson here at his position. Arkansas has people at the four and five...We literally have one experienced player so he'll be able to play both positions against a tough schedule.
Arkansas wants to be Alabama offensively...Nate Oats is the originator of this style of play!
The icing on the cake is that NATE OATS is a bad MF when it comes to DEVELOPING talent unlike Patrick Murphy (I had to)!

It's possible he's just using the Arkansas trip to make sure he gets the best dollar offer he can from us.

yeah, I don't think him taking both visits means they automatically get him. Hopefully if he takes both he then takes a day or two to think about it and decide.
I am not saying there's no way he commits to us on our visit if we blow him away, just won't be surprised if he takes both visits if he is truly undecided.

These young men will not stay at Bama or any other program long enough to be developed. 1&D is the norm now.
They get developed in the league

Well, one is a 5th year grad transfer and the other I think is a junior. Sucks for fans, but these guys are trying to pursue a career. So I can't blame them.

Very few players are one and done. As far as development goes, it's a lot more nuanced than that. If a guy plays a lot as a freshman but doesn't get draft buzz, he will probably come back unless there is no path to increased playing time. If his role expands as a sophomore and he has more success he may declare and get feedback. If the feedback is good he will go pro, if it's not he will come back.
Basically for a guy to make it 3-4 years with the same team there has to be a combination of progressive expansion of role on the team, progressive increase in productivity, and some trait that makes the player in question not much of an NBA prospect. Those first two factors are the major driving force behind why so many guys who play a lot hit the portal after a year. They don't feel like they are being developed and they don't see an expanded role for themselves on the team going forward. Then there's also absolutely rampant tampering going on behind the scenes that is designed to sow doubt in these kids minds.

We can't. We don't have people willing to spend that kind of money on basketball like Arky does. Gotta hope he cares more about being in a system that fits his needs to get drafted than about a temporary bag.

A lot of Twitter heads keep gassing up Scoot Henderson and I got to be honest...he's athletic and all that but he's not Collin Sexton.
Posted on 6/6/23 at 2:34 pm to RollTide33
How do you know that? Do you think we got Brandon, Miller, Quinerly, Griffen, Estrada ect for free? Because we didn't. We don't have as much as Bball NIL as Arkansas, it doesn't appear that anyone does, but I think we could afford Nelson if we want.

It's a lie that we can't go dollar for dollar with J.B. Hunt, Walmart, and Tyson Foods? Sure. If he is only after money then they can outbid any matching offer we make and eventually we won't be able to continue to match. It is what it is. That's why I said I hope he cares more about our system, which is infinitely better than Muss's for him to get drafted.
