the Emerald Coast Classic release

Alabama men’s basketball will face Ohio State on Nov. 24 at Northwest Florida State College [Niceville – above Destin] as part of the eight-team Emerald Coast Classic tournament.
The regular-season game will tip off at 6 p.m. CT in Raider Arena. Both Alabama and Ohio State will play a second game Nov. 25 against either Oregon or Santa Clara, based on the results of Friday’s games.
Alabama’s non-conference schedule also includes a trip to Toronto to play Purdue, a road game at Creighton and a neutral-site game against Arizona in Phoenix.

So who in the portal is left that we could target and would fit? Kaluma? Nelson?-probably staying in draft.
Even if we get Stevenson, which I’m still not sure is likely, I’m not sure how much he contributes next year. Not saying he won’t be a very good player eventually, but if you look at the history of players reclassifying it’s hit or miss.

Nelson?
Maybe more of a stretch four, but he and Sherrell were both previously mentioned as potential replacements for Clowney (before this news).
Not sure how that works now timing-wise if Sherrell did reclassify.
quote:
A plausible answer is 6-foot-10, 200-pound power forward, Aiden Sherrell. The No. 22 recruit in the 2024 class, according to Rivals, is a primary target for Alabama, but is considering a reclassification to the 2023 class.
Sherrell is a long, rangy forward with projectable 3-point form and rim-protecting value.
Last season, he averaged 18.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks on 29.2% shooting from beyond the arc (4.8 attempts per game) across 15 games in the Overtime Elite league.
Sherrell has taken official visits to Alabama, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and UNLV, but no timetable is set for his decision.
Another option, though lofty, is North Dakota State transfer Grant Nelson. The 6-foot-11 big was one of 10 players in the country to record at least 25 dunks, a five percent block rate, and take five 3-point attempts per 100 possessions.
Nelson has been contacted by Alabama, Arkansas, Creighton, Kentucky, among others, but is more likely to remain in the 2023 NBA Draft than return to college next season.

Sherrell isn't reclassifying. There was apparently an academic hold up and he's already decided to move to a different "school" next year. Thus the push for Stevenson. Apparently UNC wants him in the 2024 class though, so hopefully they don't have room and we're the only school offering him a roster spot this fall. Because going into next season with Pringle as the only true big on the roster would be a disaster waiting to happen.

It's nothing against Pringle. Foul trouble and injuries are a thing though and there is no way he stays 100% healthy and out of foul trouble for 30+ games.

With the PT that is now available I would think we can add a couple PF/C types easily

It’s been a few years since we have had to religiously check Last4In/First4Out…..we are due for that anyways

Oh, I agree totally. Really like that kid, but there ain't no way he's capable of handling that (no one could).
It was an ideal situation with him being able to come off the bench, collect minutes and give fouls, and ramp that energy up in short bursts.
Would be nice to find someone with some experience to continue tempering him a bit.

There's plenty of options left...
Olivier Nkamhoua
Arthur Kaluma
Grant Nelson (If he opts out of the draft)
Ernest Udeh Jr.

Could Julian Phillips be an option if we can wash the tennessee stink off him?

I forgot about him and Damion Collins!
Would love to add those 2!

Julian Phillips is going to the Barn if he comes back to college. Bruce tampered hard to get him into the portal
