We were a different team the last month of the season because the backcourt all disappeared offensively, particularly from 3, save for JQ. Nice that we’re picking up some guys who can put the ball in the basket in multiple ways.

Fatigue, burnout, hitting the wall or whatever you want to call it. They just ran out of gas.

Something that we missed late in the year was "that guy" at guard who would randomly step up in one game when we needed it, or when we had an otherwise off night (especially as Sears struggled).

Bradley dropped 18 against Gonzaga, then averaged about 2 PPG since mid-February. Griffen had double digits five times in a seven-game span starting in late-January, then finished out the same as Bradley. Burnett did roughly the same. Welch was a nonfactor.

It's like they all went cold together, and it coincided with the timing of that whole other mess. Don't know if that was the actual cause, but it undoubtedly all started around that time and continued over the final five or six weeks.

I think Chuck, Pringle, and Gurley certainly had their moments late, but none of the guards did save for JQ, who basically became a de facto starter anyway.

With Walton, Estrada, and Wrightsell, I feel like offensively we should at least be close to last year. Anyone have any word on the defense of these three outside of steal/block numbers? With arguably our best two on-ball guys gone, I'm hoping at least one of them is good on that end and that none are matadors.

Oats has been working his balls off this offseason.

The roster massaging for the departures of Burnett and Bradley. Even the two walkons that hit the portal caused him at least some effort and communication.

Sears and Bediako going to get feedback gave him something else to track and required communication and action from him.

The whole JQ situation and whether he stays or leaves requires some additional research and communication on his part.

The Rylan story/nonstory as well as any re-recruiting of the current roster that may have happened.

Two slam dunk hires with another seemingly on the way. All the time, effort, communication, interviewing and travel that goes into that for three different open positions.

Three solid additions from the portal.

Made contact with several other players in the portal including hosting visits.

Made contact and flew to see 2023 Papa Kante when we thought that class was dead.

Made several new scholarship offers to kids in the 24, 25 and 26 classes.

Scheduling big games for for future seasons.

This guy is fricking grinding.

One thing nobody can ever question about Nate Oats is his work ethic and desire to win.

Calm down. The guns were legal, mentioned for zero reason. Weed is nothing.

BREAKING: #Alabama transfer forward Jaykwon Walton was arrested Saturday night and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, public records show.

Looks like he was only charged with possession so not nearly as bad as the headline made it seem.

But still what the frick, man.

He was arrested so he should be suspended first 2 games of the season and have a lot of internal punishment

That’s so frustrating. The Patch said he hadn’t “signed” yet, and I don’t think you can keep him after last year’s debacle (not to mention the potential negative influence on other team members). Oats has one more to get from the transfer portal I guess.

What in the frick are you talking about. If we’re kicking out kids for legally owning guns and smoking weed then most of the team would be gone

What? You want to double down on a weed smoking, gun carrying culture for our basketball team after one of our players got indicted for capital murder last season (granted, he didn’t pull the trigger)?

Nothing wrong with legally carrying a gun. But multiple people carrying guns, doing drugs, and partying with large crowds at the same time never ends well.

What a dumbass. Be interesting to see if they let him sign or not. You know there will be a lot of pressure to walk away from him.

I hope we do. We can’t let this program have a black eye forever.
