Muss is the transfer portal OG he was working the portal back before most coaches and he has had a lot of success doing it. He is a great recruiter, the amount of hours it would take to contact the number of players they do in the portal has to be crazy.

Relative to their ability to pay, obviously not. Depends on how much they're willing to put up though. You only need to buy 4-5 top basketball players to field a good team. You need to be able to buy 30+ football players to build an NIL team. More bang for your buck and less chance that it blows up in your face with basketball. I mean just look at the ROI for Miami in basketball compared to football. Both teams were essentially semi-pro. One made the Final Four and the other didn't even make a bowl game.

It was Cristobals first year there as a HC is more the reason why they didnt make a bowl game. I think he will do good there.

A wild NBA stat from last night: The Knicks became the first NBA team in history in their win last night to have 3 guys each with 30+ points and 5+ made 3-pointers. Just an hour later, the Pelicans replicated that feat (led by Herb Jones with 35 points and 5 made 3s).

Don't forget JB Hunt trucking. Because the NCAA has no intention of policing up front NIL payments, you have to give Arkansas credit for this corporate support to pay players any amount needed to sign. Of course, NIL payments were not intended to be available until after the player signed and earned his way through success on the field. However, Arkansas' corporate funding for recruiting will not be punished, so why not use it? And Arkansas is not alone. Many schools are paying up front. I love our Taco Casa fast food restaurants in Tuscaloosa, but cheap tacos don't generate much recruiting money.

Some people are acting like cant buy a top football recruiting class with NIL when TAMU did exactly that two years ago.

So true, and A&M had something like 25 players in the portal after that #1 signing class. Those NIL deals are 1 year deals, so be good or be gone. It is curious though why Arkansas football does not get higher ranked recruiting classes. They probably spend about $3-4 million on 5-8 basketball recruits (or whatever they need). What would it take for 25 football recruits?

I follow the transport portal on twitter and all these guys who scored like 4 points and 2 Rb's per season are hitting the portal. Where do this average players, including the ones leaving Bama expect to land? Do they really think the north carolina's of the world want them or are they happy going to a play like Samford and Jacksonville state or UNA

I never said you couldn't. But it's no doubt much harder. Not only do you have 22 starters, but 22-61 more waiting for their chance, and you gotta get them out of HS. Texas A&M has a lot of oil executives was alumni. And they are way now interested in football (it's Texas after all). Arkansas has 3 Fortune 500 companies headquartered within 20 minutes of campus, and Arkansas has always been a good basketball school. NIL makes it much easier to put together a great basketball than football team. Especially considering their arena is named after a Walton. Aggy boosters (or our boosters for that matter) are gonna throw their money at football first, kinda like Kansas boosters are gonna throw their money at basketball first.

I don't know. It seems like common sense to me.

Some guys would rather play 30 mpg on an average/bad team, than 5 mpg on a contender. There's a lot of different mindsets that can arise in sports. To each their own. They are the ones that have to live with their decisions.

A lot of that is coaches forcing or “encouraging” their bad players out to make room so they can bring in a better player. These guys usually end up transferring down.

Why do people want our assistants? They never take from Pearl or Muss but everytime Bama succeeds in a sport our assistants get taken

Idk its BS. Pettway is interviewing today for HC at Kennesaw State for those that havent heard.

Seems like it should be a big draw to whoever Oats is trying to hire as assistants that our other guys got hired as Head coaches so quickly.
