Uconn will be hard to beat. They have players built for the type of game that Bama was not prepared to play. With that being said I hope SDSU wins. I do like the Hurley guy

I wish we would try to get UConn for the CM Newton Classic in Birmingham this coming December and play them, I guess, in Hartford the next year. Oats and all the Hurleys are friends, so should be possible. We get Arizona for the Newton Classsic the following year after playing them in Phoenix this December. I really wish we had a challenge with the Big East. There are really good basketball teams in that league.

What team Ware played on doesn't have anything to do with his draft stock plummeting he just wasn't as good this year as he was billed to be. I’d rather have Traore to be honest. Mainly because Traore is a forward and we need a forward. Ware is a center, we already have two good centers.

What is it about Traore that makes you think he can be a replacement for Clowney but Ware can't? Personally I'm not a huge fan of either, but from a purely basketball standpoint I can see the logic behind both. From a physical stature/athleticism standpoint they're all 3 basically the same guy. Ware and Traore can both shoot it a little like Clowney too. My big hangup about both of those guys is that they scream team chemistry problems. Ware doesn't play hard consistently and is allegedly very difficult to coach. And then Bruce all but said Traore thinks he's better than he is because he's got parents in his ear. I'd be really skeptical about both.

It doesn’t seem like you are done wasting time on it.

From having seen both of them play is what I base my opinion. Neither of them would be a good replacement for Clowney but Traore is more skilled than Ware and actually plays forward.

Ware is a post up/back to the basket rim protecting center that can hit a three, he and clowney have little in common.

We haven't even contacted Ware by the way and have contacted Traore.

I agree Robot. On court I do think Ware can potentially be good like Clowney. But he does seem like a headache to deal with.

Traore was basically an end of the bench guy who frequently looked like basketball was a new sport to him when he got into games so I'm not really sure how you were able to come to any kind of conclusions, much less conclusions you seem to be taking such an interest in defending, based on his performance this past season. He's a major project and I'd bet his next school will not be his last.

I mean a ton of that is just a shot selection issue. Clowney did his fair share of posting up and shooting crappy turnaround mid-range shots during high school. He would find a home on the bench here if he took a few too many of those. He'd be asked to play more like Clowney, and based on his measurables and athletic ability he's probably capable of it. I do think he'd probably end up finding a home on the bench here though. As I said, I wouldn't be too excited about either. Lots of potential, but they both seem like guys who will always just be that.

I'm just gonna go ahead and repost these BOL nuggets from a few days ago. A few emphasized points y'all should ponder..

quote:

-Oats and staff have plenty of good portal options. As expected, UA is a hot spot for transfers, and they have received more interest from top guys than they will have spots for them. Filling the roster won't be a problem. But Bama is looking for experienced guys to help them next year. Again, there are plenty of options out there for them to choose.

-I do expected UA to be successful in getting the top guy/ guys they want in the portal. It probably won't be the popular names some of you like but they have a system in place and they follow that blueprint when they evaluate players.

I’ve only watched the last 2 Iowa games and the start of this one but Caitlin Clark is definitely worth the hype

Id like to have Ware as a center but not as a forward. I dont see us signing another center unless Bediako or Pringle transfer.

Looks like LSU has a 10+ lead now

They shut down Clark (after the 1st) and the Hawkeyes can't find any answers

Kristy Curry allowed our basketball team to lose a 19 point lead. Let's see can Kim Mulkey keep this 17 point lead.
