Oats has been true to his word that he’s still going to prioritize high school recruiting over transfers for the bulk of the class.

We’ve still got 2 spots open even if JQ comes back or we add RJ Johnson. So still room for a SF and PF from the portal.
If Clowney comes back we’ll have 1 spot most likely but wouldnt need to add a PF in the portal near as bad.
Thats not accounting for anyone who may transfer out of our program, hopefully we dont have any.

He said the coaches talked to him about Brandon Miller and Herb Jones so I guess the plan is to play him at SF?
Herb played everything and Miller has played 2-4 depending on the lineup, plus he has initiated the offense a lot even if he's not really playing point-forward. I think we have roles more than positions.

I was gonna say exactly that, he reminds me of Keon Ellis a good bit.
Definitely, physical 2/3 that can contribute on offense, especially when that jump shot gets developed a bit more.

He’s obviously talented, he was ranked in the top 40 in this class this time last year, still cant figure out why he dropped so much.
And his posted stats on 247 are elite in terms of points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Something like 25/14/7/2. Does anyone have any idea where the ratings drop came from? Nothing seems to add up.

"I just feel like Nate Oats believed in me during a really hard time in my recruitment," Parker said of why he chose Alabama. "He never lost interest and that meant a lot to me."
Parker emerged early as a Top-25 recruit in the 2023 class and despite some bumps in the road and some schools slow-playing his recruitment, Oats & Co. remained steadfast.
I would say falling from ranked top 25 to 90th or whatever he is now in a year as “really hard time in his recruitment” Oats obviously likes him a lot still.

Parker is an intriguing and talented prospect with size, length, athleticism and flashes of skill capable of creating his own shot, creating for others and defending multiple positions. "He just told me that for the last couple of years he did great things with guards my size like Herbert Jones and Brandon Miller," Parker said of Oats' pitch. "He told me he would give me the tools that would get me to the next level."

That puts our 2023 class at #12 in the country per 247c.
2024 class should be fun to watch take shape.

So heading into 2024
PG - Bradley/Sears
SG - Griffen/Burnett/Cosby
SF - Parker
PF - Walters/Dioubate
C - Bediako
- Sears would be eligible for a 5th year
- Burnett would be a senior
- Bediako would be a senior
- Bradley/Griffen would be juniors
- Walters/Dioubate/Cosby/Parker would be sophomores
You can see where why we want some stretch forwards to match with the 6-4/6-5 guards (especially if Burnett and/or Rylan are gone).

If we're being honest that's mainly because of quantity not recruiting ranking point quality.
I like the group, they all fit exactly what we want, but there aren't any Top 50 guys and only 1 Top 100 guy in it. It's only in the Top 15 as a team because it has 4 guys in it.

???
Where would they be going? Theoretically, anyone can transfer nowadays for any reason. But, has someone heard something here? I see no reason they would transfer. They should be HUGE parts of our team next year. That being said, I understand that the roster is crowded with guards.

I think Burnett is probably a 4-year guy, but you never know. I could absolutely see Rylan blowing up next year and leaving after 2 years.
Keep in mind I was posting the 2024 group, not 2023. So we're talking 2 years from now.

Thats true. Technically we have 2 top 100 guys, Walters is 60 something in the composite and Parker is 90th. Parker is still 80th on On3 and Rivals and 84th on ESPN.
Davin Cosby doesnt count now since he’s already enrolled but he was 101 in the composite.
I dont expect RJ Johnson to end up being a part of this class, especially if JQ returns.

Kind of annoyed he doesn't count tbh. I know it doesn't matter but it would make the class look that much better.

I trust our staff evaluations more than the recruiting sites. I know that can be easy to say but it's pretty incredible how they've been able to identify talented guys that have kinda flew under the radar. Cosby not counting sucks on paper but this kid is getting experience already and hopefully is ready to hit the ground running next year.

Was reading articles about Kris Parker and noticed some said he was 6’8 so I looked up his official basketball roster and he is listed at 6’8 so that makes more sense on why we added him and the Brandon Miller/Herb Jones talk.
Posted on 3/3/23 at 5:13 pm to CrimsonFever
Anyone know why he went from a potential 5* to outside the top 100 in like a year? That's pretty unusual for a basketball recruit. Most guys pretty much are what they are by 16 or so unless there's a late growth spurt or something.

Left out Pringle in the list above. He and Sears still have 2 more years- extra one from covid. Diaobate likely at 3 spot. No doubt we are still looking for another sf/pf and a pg- hope that’s JQ, but JQ will certainly check out the combine.

Sounds like he isn’t a great shooter and may have regressed some as a shooter even but is elite at getting to the rim and can pass and dribble well and can guard the PG on defense if needed at 6’8, so very switchable.
Sounds like he plays hard too, that seems to be a consistent theme you that with guys we signed this class.
If He can become a good shooter then he would be a first round type guy. His shot doesn't look bad, I think he will get there.
